    using the linear weights from wOBA a home run is about 2.5 times more valuable than a bunt single. so Pena should probably bunt more, and teams would be stupid to not adjust if he did.

    iirc, the data is recorded by where the ball is picked up, so a ground ball that goes all the way to wall looks the same as a line drive off the wall.

    Not in approach, but in looking absolutely lost at any breaking ball thrown to them. Geo looks overmatched at the plate, much like Soriano does on any breaking stuff. Total pitches swung at: Soriano: 57.9% Soto: 39.7% Pitches swung at outside the strike zone: Soriano: 48.5% Soto: 21.9% I still don't see the similarity. Yeah, that's great. What do your EYES see though? Or he was talking about how he has a negative run value on breaking balls.     Ball 1 to Granderson lookes like one of those pitches that when you look back at pitch f/x data that you think there must have been a glitch in their computer, because that was right down the middle.

    Baseball has been played outdoors since it began. There is no such thing as a need for a retractable roof stadium. If we lived by comparison, we'd all still be in caves. When baseball became such a big business and expanded into late March and late October it sure did necessitate the need for these stadiums. As a fan, you would rather sit out in 40 degree, rainy weather? Not me. Baseball has changed with the times to try to make the game better. From buses to trains to airlines to charter flights. Rooms in the finest hotels. Smarter meal choices in the clubhouse. Better training facilities, better medical treatment, etc has all been upgraded to make the game better. In my opinion, playing the game in a controlled weather environment makes the game better as well. That's a stupid opinion. I would love to sit in 40 degree temps to watch October baseball. Those days are still quite rare and this spring did nothing to change that. there's a reason why the open air stadiums are almost always at the top for best places to watch a game.

    Quade must have saw that chart earlier that said he was the least old schooly manager and decided he needed to bunt more.

    I actually like the bunt there since there is a good chance Campana gets a hit with a bunt. A lot depends upon how close the third baseman was playing.
