  1. the movement on offense looks a lot better tonight. Nice job working inside-out.
  2. I disagree. If we applied a modified pitch f/x system that used high-speed video to track the movement of every moving part on the field, we absolutely could get to the point. We would know the precise speed and trajectory of any ball, we would know the fielder's position at the time of the hit, we would know how long it took them to not only break to the intercept but also how long it took for them to receive and transition to the throw, so on and so forth. for every single play. no more relying on human subjectivity, no more guessing, no more unknowns. They are working on this, called field f/x. I may be getting it confused with hit f/x but I believe they have it at Pac Bell and maybe one or two other stadiums but only mlb has access to the data. Until they make this info available, the best we can do use UZR, +/-, and scouts create a best estimate of a players defensive value.
  3. Yes, and on that note my baseball team is having a football watching party at Time Out at Gravois and Chippewa. $5 to help drink a keg of beer and some free food (pasta and hot dogs). cardinals are really pulling out all the stops to come up with the money to sign pujols I wish I was good enough to play professional ball, even if that meant for the cardinals.

  5. Illinois might have a lot of 35-33 games this year. The offense does not look good, to put it nicely.
  6. I already put in an official request to the Cubs media department. :) However, if we can figure out another way other than official channels, I'm all for it. umfan, I think he's talking to you.
  7. watch it again, Suh takes cutlers helmet off with both hands. Interested to see if TT watches this and still says it was clean. Yes, I watched it live, watched the replay, and again now. Cutler ducks away as he goes down, which means Suh is left with grabbing and pulling at his helmet if he's going to attempt to tackle him. Maybe it should be flagged, but it's hardly malicious. Fairley went out of his way to finish the hit on Cutler the way we did. Stafford intentionally reached into the facemask so he could suplex Moore to the ground. Suh made a split second attempt to make a tackle after Cutler ducked him in an awkward way. It looks to me like Suh grabs Cutler's earhole before Cutler starts to duck and slide.
  8. on all the post game shows they just say Stafford and Moore get tangled up, no mention that Stafford tried ripping his head off.
  9. Sullivan burying news again... this time about Wood Yeah, Wood also said in that interview that he won't play for anybody but the Cubs. It's Cubs or retirement. I wonder if they'll give him a contract like they did Wakefield with an annual team option.
  10. hopefully that will put an end to all the Sandberg speculation.
  11. I loved the glazed look in Hoyer's eyes when he was asked about Z
  12. This is why this ass clown needs off the national broadcasts. Why not have the Pacers guys do NBA games and say, "hey there's the best ever." As they show Reggie Miller. I'm pretty sure he was calling him the best cardinal ever, since they were talking about Pujols being on of the best cardinals ever when they showed that video. Oh ok, and wtf Texas? to clarify though, Joe Buck sucks

  14. I was wondering if that was you in the fangraphs chat.
  15. this is some terrible managing, but it's worked out ok.
  16. To any of the St. Louis people, I'm going to Time Out in South City to watch the game Sunday. They have free food.
  17. water is much more valuable to sustaining human life, but yet diamonds cost more.
  18. Link Tango evaluates it as if Theo were a player worth 18 mil over 3 years with one year remaining on the contract.
  19. Did the Rangers just walk Cabrera with the bases empty and 1 out in a tie game? Wow!
  20. did you miss the live blog or whatever he did? found it: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=59953
  21. There have been a lot of big comebacks today it seems. not Minnesota, though.
  22. Is anybody else watching the Navy and Army game? Navy trying to pull an Illinois.
  23. Why would you hate to rate the Cubs best player for the past decade with an A in a season in which he played really well? I haven't looked at the numbers closely, but for me I think his defense was bad enough to take him down to 88-90 grade range, so a high B+ or low A.
  24. I agree, and Nate alluded to that in the first sentence. I was just calling out Kyle.
