Ugh If we had last years lack of pitching depth, I'd be interested in a flier, but as is, is he even an upgrade over Wells, Wood, or dare I say Coleman or Lopez? Byrd mentioned in the article. I know Byrd isn't going to net us any blue chippers, but we could certainly get a better return. Yeah, because you have any idea.

I've got a good feeling about the game today and the season for the most part. I put in my futures bet of Cubs Over 73.5 wins, so are we thinking 74-88 is possible? I think that looks even a tad low for my expectations....which are basically tread water until June and hopefully show some progress to finish close to .500. While not being awful and boring to watch along the way.

I'll be there, pretty excited for the season to get started. Any idea on the Nats lineup? Something like this maybe: 1) Ian Desmond - SS 2) Danny Espinosa - 2B 3) Ryan Zimmerman - 3B 4) Adam LaRoche - 11B 5) Jayson Werth - RF 6) Mark DeRosa - LF 7) Wilson Ramos - C 8) Roger Bernadina - CF 9) Stephen Strasburg - P Not as tough as I thought, though with Strasburg going it may not matter. Michael Morse and Rick Ankiel begin the season on the DL and will not be eligible to play until the Nats home opener at the earliest, so DeRosa and Bernadina should get the starts I'd assume.

I don't see Grant going to UI and I definitely don't see Mike Thomas hiring a guy from Xavier. Groce would not be able to recruit Chicago, he's too white. That leaves Buzz Williams, Sean Miller, Josh Pastner, Frank Martin (eww), Reggie Theus....

Football is a one and done game at the end of the season, so if a backup QB has to play that game then he better be decent. We aren't talking about spending money on a backup catcher here. We're talking about spending money on a guy who's going to possibly have to run the entire offense during a playoff game. There's also no reason to believe that if the Bears defense, special teams and running game are well above average that Jason Campbell couldn't lead them to a Super Bowl. Much crazier things have happened.

McCown was fine as the #2. I just can't agree with that. I'm not willing to give up the season in the playoffs or whenever because Cutler can't play. QB's get hurt all the time in this league and the Bears weren't gonna be able to upgrade their line enough anyways.
