  1. I really think a lot of people are underestimating the Jason Campbell signing; a legit backup QB is extremely valuable in this league. I mean look at what Flynn just got for playing 1 game. And Cassel for a handful. I like what they've done this offseason for the most part. The special teams is going to be top 3 again, Weems was a great signing. I also think they will sign Michael Bush and that would be a huge upgrade as well. Draft: DE, WR, OL/LB/CB
  2. I like Kurcz more than Carpenter.
  3. Did Weber really never recruit one player that's made the NBA? Leonard will obv, but none other?
  4. HA...or not.
  5. I really think Iowa is going to give MSU fits today, +11 is looking like a gold mine. I also think Indiana handles Wisconsin by about 5.
  6. I don't get why this is a good thing.
  7. If we're not going to compete, what does it matter? What would the team be losing by waiting a month or two to bring him up? Is it worth a year of team control to have him on the roster in April/May in a rebuilding year? Just because you have more money than the Pirates doesn't mean you should be stupid. How do you know they're not going to compete?
  8. We are the freaking Cubs, not the Pirates....does a service year really matter? I agree that until Byrd is gone he will need to be in AAA but if Byrd wad dealt then you 100% start him in Chicago IMO. I agree we don't have much of a chance this year, but anything is possible and you gotta try to put your best team on the field.
  9. Wayne is done, possession receiver at this point.
  10. I'm just not real keen on signing VJax, something about him just doesn't "wow" me. Maybe it's his age compared to cost, his production which I think should be higher or his past off the field concerns.
  11. I would be so so happy with Wallace, Mario Williams and a OL/WR in rounds 2-3 of the draft.
  12. a) Is it possible to sign Mario Williams and also trade the 1st round pick for Wallace? Because I would prefer that to signing VJax. b) What were VJax's off the field problems?
  13. Good -- that was the last guy I wanted
  14. i have found (from following along on gameday) that he is a lot whiter than i had imagined. That's a good enough impression for me.
  15. Didn't he finish as runner up for Indiana Mr. Basketball?
  16. Raridon has done wonders for that program since coming over from Nebraska Wesleyan (I believe?) though. I wanna say this is their first ever Sweet 16 appearance.
  17. As is mine, beat the #1 team in the country and made it to the Sweet 16 last night. Where'd you go? Illinois Wesleyan here I'm rooting pretty hard for ISU to get in today, f the bubble since Illinois has no chance. north central. we're in the sweet sixteen, too. we beat wash u last night, play wittenburg on the 9th. Nice, I grew up in Naperville. I saw that all 3 CCIW teams made it through last night. Though I'm not sure I'd exactly call NCC a "D-3 Powerhouse". At least not historically.

  19. Why do you still watch? I'm not 100% sure UI could beat my alma mater right now....and they are not Division 1.
  20. From Matt Bowen in today's Trib, who played under Gregg Williams in Washington: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-0304-bowen-nfl--20120304,0,4015992.column
  21. I like Marshall a lot, seems like someone who would be able to recruit enough to win with his ability. A very smart and dedicated coach. I'm still not 100% sold on Shaka, although I would be happy with him. Buzz Williams would probably be my #1. Is Leonard Hamilton considered a good coach?
  22. Young vs. someone like Lon Kruger, Bob Huggins, Ben Howland, etc. Young basically = someone who hasn't coached at a major D1. Obviously, someone like like Davidson's coach, or even Jim Laranega, would fall into old. But I'm doubting they go that route.
  23. But isn't 2 years of a franchise basically the same as a 5 year deal with only the signing bonus guaranteed? Get 3, maybe 4, good years out of him and then cut him loose.
  24. Is it assumed that Illinois is going "young" with their next coach?
