    Oddly enough, I'll be at that game. I just Google searched him because I had no idea what he looks like...seems he's lost a lot of weight over the years. And he wears his hat so Fernando Rodney.

    Honestly never heard of him, sounds like an under-the-radar guy because he didn't play his Junior year or that summer due to injuries.

    Ha, there's one man in pants in that picture....the professional athlete. It's ridiculous how much bigger even a pitcher is than normal human men. And those are some dudes that drink beer.

    Hmm....why not? Probably because those losses all but take them out of contention, even if they add a SP. Not every team folds up and gives up on entire seasons because it looks like it might be hard. That's just a Cubs thing. And picking your battles is often the prudent thing to do. Yeah, and especially in that division I guess. Too bad Dempster won't be back in his native land.

    Why? He probably would sign a very cheap 1 year deal, might not even need to give him a MLB contract in the offseason. We invite [expletive]/burnt out pitchers to ST all the time if he works out you have a good trade piece next trade deadline and you don't have to invest a lot into him. Like I said it's not like bringing in Sheets is going to block some young guy from gettings starts (we really don't have anyone in the system that's knocking down the door to get ML starts that you would consider a big time prospect) and it's not like we are going to be on the cusp of contending for the World Series next year where we would need to depend on Sheets to turn into his old self to get us over the hump. If he looks relatively healthy, why the hell not take a flier on him?????????? Because gullible people will think he's supposed to be awesome. Waste of time, he will not be good. I mean why the hell not take a flier on any idiot who's been out of MLB for 3 years??

    I think people are missing one very realistic option regarding payroll....acquiring a bunch of talent during this season and then sorting through what we want to keep and can trade for someone more MLB ready (and thus more expensive) in the winter.
