  1. Geez. What's with the lack of love for the HR Derby? It does them no good in their quest to become major league players, and there is a perception that this type of event can hurt your performance in the following weeks. Bobby Abreu syndrome.
  2. No, but they showed Sveum talking to him and Rizzo and he wasn't pissed. Just talked it through to them so on same page going forward.
  3. Also, when I google Carlos Zambrano, why does a picture of a strapping Latino soccer player come up?
  4. I give a [expletive] because "good clubhouse guy" is absolute mythological nonsense for idiots, and he's the symbol of management not even trying this year. That's a bit much. Baseball is like any other sport...if the last couple guys are similar in talent and cost of course teams are going to go with the ones who they feel are a better fit for their clubhouse and organization. Looking back, would anyone really want Z on this team? Nothing good would come of that. He wouldn't be happy, fans wouldn't be happy and his teammates may not be happy.
  5. [-( I said I was being conservative. But yes, that should probably be a win.
  6. what the hell has been interesting? I dunno. I feel the same way as UMF, but I just can't put my finger on it. I've watched more Cubs baseball this year than the past three years combined, and this team is worse than any of them. Me too -- it's just nice to know they are terrible but don't have a total knucklehead running the team anymore. And they typically lose due to talent not ungodly, circus like activity happening on the field.
  7. Holy balls a million times yes. He's due $9.8 million next year. Gonna have to agree here, got to get rid of him if given the opportunity.
  8. Aside from the Seinfeld episode, a slogan totally unknown outside of people who lived in an area in NY and around NYC in the 90s and late 80s Wait...The Wiz was actually a real thing?!? Haven't seen anything great yet, would prob give UM the lead with 'H to the Rizzo' but it's not really a nickname. Thinking more along the lines of something like Spanky, mentioned above, something just so gritty it would bury Ryan Theriot in the dirt.
  9. Probably the third game this year I'm excited to go to. Rizzo is in the fantasy lineup over Freddie Freeman & Hosmer, time to stick there.
  10. I traded Shane Victorino/Matt Moore for Bauer/Hosmer in a keeper league about a month ago. Been waiting for this.
  11. When I was like 15 and played fantasy baseball I traded Barry Bonds for some sort of Jeremy Giambi/Jeff Kent/Jason Isringhausen combo. Yes, Jeremy. Not Jason. Good move.
  12. Well let's just call it a career then.
  13. How is Bears (Over 9 wins) not an amazing medium-term investment? So 10 wins, 9 pushes, 8 loses. They went 8-8 last year. Let's say auto wins at home: Colts Rams Vikings Seahawks So need go 2-2 at home vs these teams: Packers - L Lions - W Texans - L Panthers - W And 3-5 on the road vs these teams: Titans - W Cowboys - L 49ers - L Jaguars - W Cardinals - L 3 Division Opponents (1-2) That gives you a 9-7 push and is being extremely conservative IMO. I expect 7-1 at home this year.
  14. You were so right, especially since you know exactly what Tampa wanted in return. Jesus christ
  15. Just how good is Jose Altuve? He's a couple months younger than Castro and is playing really well. At 5'7 I'm assuming his power will be minimal, but is he someone who's expected to hit .310 every year?
  16. He's got a lovely .68 K/BB ratio. Also a 6.38 ERA, 1.64 WHIP & .315 BAA vs. CHW in 3 starts.
  17. Not gonna happen, Reds are obsessed with this dude.
  18. Coming into 2012, Gavin Floyd had the lowest ERA in the history on Interleague play. He's been hit pretty hard this year, most recently by the Astros & Cardinals. He does own pretty good numbers lifetime vs. the Cubs but is 0-3 to show for it. So really, I have no idea what's gonna happen in this one. Oh wait, Randy Wells is going to get molliwopped.
