Kings beat the Clippers 176-175 in 2 OT tonight. It's the second highest scoring NBA game ever behind Pistons-Nuggets in 1983 which finished 186-184.

The new pitch clock rule is great. Don’t need batters stepping out and adjusting their gloves over and over again and I don’t need pitchers taking 25 seconds between ever pitch. Get the ball, get your sign and pitch. Or grab your bat, step in the box and get ready to hit.

Both GKers made awful mistakes to give away a goal. Liverpool falling apart in the second half. Assuming they don’t turn it around, this will be the fourth time in the last 6 seasons Real bounced them from the UCL. Final in 2018 and 2022 plus the QF in 2021. They won it in 2019 and lost to Atl Madrid in 2020.

[tweet] [/tweet] Penalty or no? I didn’t think much of it at the time because it didn’t seem intentional and he was only a couple feet from the ball so ball played the hand. But the halftime guys both said they thought it should have been a penalty. If we just made handballs like these indirect free kicks we could avoid some complaining from whichever side felt wronged.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the call I think we can agree on this. Would have been fun to see it play out with Philly getting the ball back with just under 2 minutes left.

Given the situation, it was awful. If you make that call in the 2nd quarter of a Bears/Lions regular season game, it wouldn't be a huge deal, but deciding an extremely well played Super Bowl on a ticky-tack touch foul is inexcusable. Nah. If you're going to call it in the second quarter you call it in the 4th quarter too. I hate the "let them play at the end" BS. A penalty is a penalty regardless of when it happens. If they didn't call it, I don't think I would care either. But I also don't really care that they did call it. If you're going to grab a receiver twice, you run the risk of it being called.

Minor nitpick but they lost in the West semis last year. Warriors beat the Mavs in the West Finals. Doesn’t change your overall point of course.

I'm going to need someone to explain to me exactly how Chelsea is able to spend nearly $350M to bring in new players in January while selling one player for $15M after spending nearly $320M in the summer while only selling 3 players for a combined $60M. I mean we already knew FFP is a total farce but come on. This is absurd.

I bet on Hurts right after that season. He stayed at Bama and sat the bench behind Tua, despite being 27-2 as a starter and leading his team to consecutive national championship games (won 1, which obviously Tua took over). He then went to Oklahoma and put up a Heisman level season. He was just a guy I never counted out as an NFL QB. I thought he might be a 6th round pick and mostly a career backup who becomes a head coach after his playing career, but I knew he would have success on some level in the NFL. From all accounts, just a really good dude, who I wished all the success in this league. All credit to him for putting in the work. It’s a hell of a transformation. In addition to what you mentioned, the following season when Tua took over, Hurts also came on in the SEC title game when Tua got hurt and led a pair of TD drives to help them beat Georgia.

If you would have told me in 2018 after I watched Jalen Hurts get benched at halftime of the National Title Game because he went 3-8 for 21 yards that he would be the quarterback of a team in the Super Bowl I would have... -not believed you -asked if you meant running back rather than QB -asked if 2 other QBs on the roster got hurt -stood in stunned silence He didn't even average 150 passing yards per game that season and only completed 60 percent of his passes.

The top 5 teams in the West right now are the Nuggets, Grizzlies, Kings, Clippers and Timberwolves. Those teams have a combined 1 NBA finals appearance in their collective histories and it was the Kings in 1951. Before today, the Pelicans were the 6 seed and they've never made the finals either.

I only saw the end of the game, but the questionable calls looked mostly right to me. The grounding call was right, imo. The shove out of bounds at the end had to be called. Was it earlier in the game where you disagree? The Chiefs were getting calls all game and away with things and the 49ers absolutely got horsefeathers in their game too. Maybe the outcomes end up being the same but the Eagles and Chiefs got a lot of help. The Eagles were going to win anyway once Purdy went down and then especially when the backup went down too.

Ovechkin… In 2018-19, he became only the 4th player aged 33 or older to score 50 goals in a season. In 2019-20, he would have become only the 2nd player aged 34 or older to score 50 goals in a season if not for the pandemic (48 goals in 69 team games) In 2021-22, he became the oldest player at 36 to score 50 goals in a season. In 2022-23, he's on pace for 50 goals again. If he gets 50 this year he'll be the only player with 10 seasons of 50+ goals. A few years ago my dad and I were talking about his chances of catching Gretzky for most goals in a career and while it seemed like he had a shot at it, it didn't necessarily seem likely. Now it seems like a matter of when not if. Gretzky at 37 scored 23 goals in 82 games, at 38 he scored 9 in 70 games and then he retired. If it wasn't for the lockout in 04-05 which lost the whole season, the lockout in 12-13 and then Covid shortened years in 19-20 and 20-21, he could have the record already.
