  1. They probably did but the team will still come out and swing at the first pitch. I hope they don't, but I think they will.
  2. No surprise with the Ngata pick.
  3. meh..they are still the cardinals I hate this type of argument/comment. Probably because I'm a Cubs fan. Even though Leinart is going to get a lot less money at #10 than he would have getting drafted #1 last year, I have to think that he has to be much happier that he stayed in school. He got to stay and be a god at USC and now gets to go to an offense with the Edge, Larry Fitzgerald, and Anquan Boldon instead of getting hammered in SF with a horrible team. I know it's the Cardinals but they're looking much better than the Niners are.
  4. cleveland Denver traded Cleveland to get the 11th pick? Interesting.
  5. IMO he'll be the best QB in the draft. No offense, but he did go to Vanderbilt. I'm not saying he's going to be horrible, and I think he'll be better than Vince Young, but I have to doubt him because he went to Vanderbilt. Althouth Roethlisberger did go to Miami (Ohio) so who knows.
  6. Who did Denver trade to get that pick? Did they give up their 15th pick?
  7. Some moves might be inept ownership, but in the Marlins case it's definately maximizing profits. They know that they can get a bunch of young guys for cheap by trading all of their expensive star players. Every owner knows they are running a business and have different strategies as to maximizing profits.
  8. Everybody had Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf 1 and 1a. Just think where the Colts might be right now if they had drafted Leaf instead of Manning.
  9. Gorgeous. And I don't think it's too early to say that our bullpen is SIGNIFICANTLY better than last year. This makes me much more comfortable heading with leads into the late innings, and also helps lessen the pressure on starting pitchers. Nice. I think it's also been a big part of the 'Comeback Cubs' we've seen so far. The team doesn't get down on itself heading into the late innings, and when our bullpen can hold them off, it gives us a chance to come back offensively. Kudos to Hendry on the bullpen I say. I knew coming into the season that, without a doubt, this year's pen would be the best we have had in a few years. Even if one of Eyre/Howry works out, we still have a great 8-9 combination in Eyre/Howry and Dempster. I loved the signings. Feel free to rip Hendry for resigning Neifi and Rusch and signing Jones, but at least give him huge props for the bullpen.
  10. It's not a given that Bush is going to be a star in the league. Remember that LenDale White, not Bush was the best USC running back in the Rose Bowl. Bush wasn't able to rely on just his speed to get past the Texas defence which was the first defense close to a pro level in terms of speed that Bush faced last year. Could I see Bush being one of the greatest running backs of all time? Yes. But is that a guarantee? Absolutely not. I could just as easily see him being an average running back and a return specialist. Every pro team has speed on defense because generally you have to be fast to play defense in the NFL. Bush being a fixture at the Pro Bowl is most definately not a sure thing.
  11. If DeAngelo gets past Carolina at #27 (especially if they choose LenDale White instead), I will light myself on fire. What if Carolina took Laurence Maroney from Minnesota?
  12. I think this is legit. It's absurd to hide an injury to "bluff". It's not like this is hockey.
  13. You know that somebody is going to come out with a bunch of stats trying to prove that you are wrong. I agree with you BTW.
  14. All Twins fans: "There through thick and thin" The Twins have fans? Everytime I see one of their games there is no one in the stands. My Grandpa usually tries to catch a Twins game when the Yankees are in town. He'll usually go to a game or two every year. So they do have some fans. It's just the dome is horrible.
  15. The Astros are on pace for 116 wins and the Cards and Reds are on pace for 110. The Cubs are on pace for 100. We know it's not going to last. The Reds will surely end up with 70-80 wins. I don't see them with much more than that. And you know the Cards and Astros are going to slow down. It is fairly funny though.
  16. Psh. Maddux wasn't that good today. After all, he did give up two runs. TWO RUNS!! Where does this guy get the nerve to give up two runs. Honestly. If he's going to continue to give up two runs a start, he should just retire.
  17. I am really liking the bullpen. I just hope that Ohman can return to his 2005 form to give us 2 solid lefty relievers.
  18. Jones, Perez, Blanco coming up in the bottom of the eighth. Then Dempster in to close it out.
  19. Come on Scott. One more and we'll go to the ninth.
  20. Double to left center is my prediction for ARam.
  21. I don't think he'd be a bad option next year, might as well stick with JP for now. Right now, I like Ronny in the 2 hole until Lee gets back, and maybe after. We'll see how he does.
  22. Even if you get a couple thousand to do it, there is no way they would arrest everybody.
