Arkansas only has one loss on the year and, you could use the reverse argument for them that you used for ND. They are only ranked #11 right now because they started the year unranked and got hammered by USC in their first game. They have a solid team though and I think we'll have a better idea after tonight's game with Tennessee is over.

Drop how much though? AP Top 15: 1. O$U 2. scUM 3. Louisville 4. Texas 5. Auburn 6. Florida 7. USC 8. Cal 9. ND 10. WVU 11. Arkansas 12. LSU 13. Tennessee 14. Boise St 15. Rutgers so Louisville, Auburn, Cal all drop. Arkansas needs to jump up if they win this. I dunno... does USC deserve to jump Florida if they beat Oregon? I don't think so - they've had their share of close games against unranked opponents. ND? They should've lost to Moo. WVU? They haven't shown they can beat a good team, their defense is questionable, as is their ability to pass. Arkansas should've lost at home to Alabama, at least if Alabama had a kicker. I dunno if Florida should move down just because their close win came today and not last month. Yeah, I think they might have dropped actual spots in the polls had everybody won. But with 2 teams ahead of them losing they aren't going to drop actual spots. I wouldn't be surprised to see USC pass Florida but that would still put Florida at #5 meaning they would actually move up.

If you add in Arkansas losing to either LSU or Tennessee, then yes. But if your scenario happens and Arkansas wins out there is no way they won't jump ND. ETA: Also, is that what you think the Top 6 will be (i.e. how the polls will come out) or how you think it should be? It's what I think it will be. The only thing that might be different is Arkansas at 6 over Notre Dame and I think that only happens if they blow out Tennessee today. If they win a close game I think they'll be 7. Arkansas is significantly behind Notre Dame in terms of BCS points, and the Irish won a blowout today (even though it was Air Force). With a few more quality wins Arkansas could jump the Irish, but I don't see it this week. A win over Tennessee will be quality and Arkansas would likely jump over West Virginia with any sort of a victory. In the USA Today and Harris poll, Notre Dame is already ahead of Cal while Arkansas is behind Cal so they are likely to be, at the least, right behind ND in both polls. Needless to say, an Arkansas victory today gets them a lot closer to ND.

I think it'll be Texas... they have to win at Kansas State tonight (shouldn't be tough) and then beat aTm at home, which should also be doable. Then it's the Big XII title game against Nebraska - they win that and they're looking good. They'd probably move up over O$U or Michigan, depending on which one loses. For me, it depends on which team wins the OSU/UM game. I don't think Texas deserves another shot because they got hammered at home. If it would have been a close game on the road (a la Florida to Auburn) that would be one thing. The same goes for Notre Dame if Michigan goes undefeated. ND shouldn't get another shot.

Man this week is crazy. #3 Louisville and #5 Auburn already lost, #8 Cal is losing and #6 Florida is watching South Carolina drive in to field goal range for the potential game winner.

Why do we let one game decide everything rather than the body of work? I don't understand what you're saying. I agree the whole season should be the thing that everyone goes by but losing in your 9th/10th/11th or 12th game after being undefeated knocks you out is what bothers me. Florida gets to play a tough W Carolina team next week. As far as I'm concerned, Florida, Louisville and WVU are one and the same to me. All three lost tough, close games on the road to quality opponents.

Absolutely, especially USC based on who they will have defeated. If Cal won out they would also get a big boost from going to USC and winning. I think USC would, and should, jump ahead of Texas if they won out. Cal I'm not so sure about though.

Your school resides in a conference worse than the Big East this year. True - the Big XII North is a joke. I didn't know the Big XII North was it's own conference. The Big XII is much better than the Big East. Having one good team does not make a conference. If Bomar wouldn't have been kicked out then you could have made a case for two good teams but after Texas, the Big XII has nothing.

I don't see why the second team doesn't get a chance to sign him if the first team that wins the bidding doesn't. For example...if Boston offers 10 per year for 4 years and he says no, the Yanks have to offer at least 20% more than Boston to get him to make it fair so the player doesn't just sign with the team he wants to. Because agents would use this as an under the table way to make the player a FA. A team like the Yankees could low ball the bid knowing they would just offer the player more money. But say the Yanks had 5 teams ahead of them. If Boston offers a 4/40 they would have to offer a 4/80 unless my math is wrong. The second team has to offer 20% more and it goes to 40 to the 3rd and so on. It depends if you add on 20% of the original bid or 20% of the previous bid. If it's the former then you be right and the Yankees would offer 4/80. If it's the latter then the bids would go 40, 48, 57.6, 69.12, 82.94, 99.53.

Well, the Auburn loss all but puts Arkansas in the SEC title game. Also, Georgia Tech beat North Carolina 7-0 today to secure a place in the ACC title game.
