  1. At least in Detroit and KC's case, the benefits of getting to play one of the worst teams in history 13 times vs. only 6 for the other AL teams. Detroit went 10-3 vs. the Sox while KC went 12-1. They both beat out Seattle (6-1 vs. the Sox) by a game.
  2. That's now 10 straight playoff losses for the Orioles, tied for the 4th longest streak ever.
  3. Houston eliminated.
  4. This can’t be the Braves getting cute and trying to save Sale for tomorrow right? EDIT: Hasn’t pitched since Sept 19 so probably not them getting cute.
  5. And the Braves just gave it right back up.
  6. Lol and now the Mets give up 4 in the bottom of the 8th. Braves used Iglesias already so who knows who they’ll throw in the 9th.
  7. What a disaster of an 8th inning for Atlanta.
  8. RIP Dikembe Mutombo. Died of brain cancer.
  9. Yep. I’ve got no issue with the refs initial call. It certainly looked bad from his angle so I understand why he gave the red.
  10. Going to need someone to explain to me how this is a red card. I get that Fernandes goes high and it looks bad. But he went high because he slipped and not only that, he just trips Maddison and never gets him with the studs. If he had slipped and got Maddison in the knee with his studs, okay. That could take out a guys knee. But we can't be giving straight reds for tripping a guy. VAR cleared it too and didn't even have the ref take a look. Not sure it would have affected the outcome since Tottenham were in control but you never know. ManU still had 45 minutes at home to tun it around.
  11. Arizona is pretty F’d right? Whoever wins Game 1 is in and won’t be playing anyone in Game 2. I’d be pretty pissed if I was Arizona because they absolutely could have gotten these games in but didn’t.
  12. Hendricks today: 7 1/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 81 pitches. Hendricks G6 NLCS: 7 1/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 88 pitches.
  13. Not while playing a hungover Detroit team today.
  14. Incomplete pass, Miami wins.
  15. And I have no idea what they're going to do. I'm not sure the guy fully had it but they also ruled it a catch and I don't see enough to overturn it. If they called it incomplete I'm not sure they overturn it either.
  16. Stupid Angels had 2 out in the 8th inning but the 2nd baseman couldn’t catch a pop in just on the grass in the outfield which let the WS tie the game. Next batter singled to give the Sox the lead.
  17. And yet still the best QB from that draft class. He's also the only one of the first round QBs who is still with the team that drafted him.
  18. If the White Sox go: 6-0 they'll end up with the 6th worst winning percentage ever 5-1 it's the 5th worst 4-2 or 3-3 it's the 2nd worst 2-4 or worse it's the worst winning percentage ever
  19. The difference between Ohtani and most DH’s is that they tend to provide negative value with their legs because they’re big lumbering oafs. Assuming I’m looking at the right thing, Ohtani is second in both Fangraphs and B-R in baserunning value in the majors this year. So while he’s not playing the field, he provides value with his legs.
  20. They play Wed this week. But they still go Thu, Sun, Wed, Sat, Tue.
  21. I don't care about the Sox much either now that Hawk is gone. I think I figure as long as you're going to be ridiculously bad, you might as well be historically bad and set records. I don't think I'd be following any less if it was any other team going for the record instead.
  22. White Sox were down 2-0 going into the ninth and hit a 2-out 2-strike home run to tie it. The Padres had 1st and 2nd no out and 1st and 3rd with 1 out in the bottom half but didn't score. Unfortunately, the White Sox didn't score in the 10th and it took the Padres 2 pitches to walk it off. 36-118. Also, Ohtani is at 52-52 now.
  23. So we have the new expanded Club World Cup every four years that was supposed to replace the old yearly version. Apparently the old version is sticking around under a different name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_FIFA_Intercontinental_Cup I hope the players strike happens because this is just getting stupid.
