They also needed a 96th minute own goal just to send a Nations League SF game to extra time in March. Yes the Weah red card wasn’t Berhalter’s fault, but it wasn’t just the Copa that got him fired. We also never looked like scoring against Uruguay in a game they didn’t need to win but we had to.

The 5 France matches before today had a total of 4 goals, none of which came from open play. We had 3 goals, all from open play, in only 25 minutes today.

Fun fact! Believe it or not, the 2024 Cubs have yet to be swept in a 3 or 4 game series this year. The only series they didn't win a game was that 2-gamer against St. Louis where Friday was rained out.

Netherlands blows their last group game, finishes 3rd and gets Romania in the R16 and either Turkey or Austria (who they did just lose to) to make the SF. Pretty nice road compared to the other 3rds. Georgia gets Spain and Denmark/Germany. Slovenia gets England and Switzerland/Italy. Slovakia gets Portugal and France/Belgium.

So if England draws Netherlands in the R16, that means we’d get Romania-Slovenia and Austria against one of Turkey, Czech Republic or Georgia. The winner of those two games play each other which means one of those teams would be in the semis.

I’m not watching the game but Serbia knows they can advance with a win right? Only 1 shot in the game and it wasn’t even on target.

60 minutes in to these games and we have 6 total shots on goal by the 4 teams.

France was on 4 points coming in so they needed to win to for sure win the group (no idea what the tiebreakers would have been had they and Netherlands tied).

Pretty stoked for Monday. I’m rooting for Edmonton but I’ll gladly take a Florida OT win over an Edmonton blowout. -
Cubs haven’t scored 8 runs in a game since May 11 and it took 6 bases loaded walks to do it. Before that it was April 19.

Kane was probably overrated by people who liked him (ie, most Spurs fans) but underrated by people who didn’t. Not a flashy player because he’s not fast (relative to other guys) but a very good goal scorer who always put himself in good positions to poach goals and a very underrated passer. Related note, I’ve been entertained this year hearing stuff about how Kane is as good or better than ever which is likely solely because he’s scoring more goals. Nevermind that it’s in a league that’s not as good as the EPL. With Spurs he never finished higher than 10th in the Ballon d’Or (which was probably fair) but this year he’s been projected as a top-5 finish.

In the span of about 40 seconds the Oilers -had an empty netter hit the post -had a player miss the puck by a couple inches on the follow up -had another empty netter cleared by a diving swing of the stick less than 6 inches from going in If McDavid hadn’t scored right after, I would have assumed Florida was going to come right down the ice and score just for pure torture for the Oilers fans. -

Yep. That was a great period. The last 8ish minutes in particular starting when Edmonton went up 4-1. Florida was really pouring it on at the end there.
