  1. I didn't let my dad forget about that game (he's a Dodgers fan) as well as the series sweep for a while.
  2. I'm sensing a 2-1 loss as Glavine shuts us down.
  3. I went on a mini-rant about this to my editor a few days ago. One of the guest columnists on Rome is Burning (yes, I know but don't say anything) said that after San Antonio beat Phoenix in Game 1 that we were headed for a Spurs-Pistons final and it would be one of the best of all time. All I could do was groan at both the idea and his opinion. Regardless of what I think about the teams, I wouldn't watch that series until Game 6 or 7. I just have no desire to watch that type of basketball. It's just flat out boring. This is why the NBA needs a 20 second shot clock.
  4. Bars and restaurants have been. Players have beer at their homes. Why can't they go somewhere other than their workplace and drink a beer after the game? I agree. It's not that big of an inconvenience to not allow the players to have beer in the clubhouse.
  5. Good to hear that Sammy is still hitting well.
  6. I don't see why the rest of the Pistons don't just think to themselves, "You know what, we're down 19 right now and we aren't going to win this game. Let's just let Sheed go crazy and get tossed, then we'll regroup in Detroit for Game 5."
  7. So how are the Bulls going to blow this game?
  8. Well that wasn't pretty and it should have been a DP, but I'll take it.
  9. Walking in runs are fun when the Cubs are batting.
  10. His neck was bothering him. Well that's a crappy way to have his hitting and on-base streaks end. They already had ended, hadn't they? I know his hit streak died. Yeah, you're right. I didn't see the box score from Friday.
  11. And I see this is a typical Cub performance: Cubs have 11 hits and 2 runs while the Phillies have 3 hits and 1 run. Stoopid Cobs.
  12. His neck was bothering him. Well that's a crappy way to have his hitting and on-base streaks end.
  13. Pleasantly surprised to see the Cubs are actually winning.
  14. So are the Bulls even going to win a game this series? 76.7 ppg and 35.8 FG % for the series, ouch.
  15. Neither game was really surprising today in its result. I figured the Nets would take Game 3, though I don't think they'll win the series, and there was no way San Antonio was going to lose especially after what Stoudamire said about SA being dirty.
  16. That Baron Davis dunk was sick. I figured the Warriors would win this game but I didn't think they would dominate the Jazz in the fashion that they did. I was thinking more along the lines of a 10-15 point win. There was no way the Warriors were going to come home and lay an egg in front of their own fans. That being said, Game 4 should be interesting. Derek Fisher and Deron Williams are not likely to combine for 43 minutes and Andrei Kirilenko isn't going to have to play point guard for Utah. I still think Golden State will win Game 4 because Utah isn't that great of a team but I don't see the Warriors blowing them out of the building like they did in Game 3.
  17. Did they have a decibel meter for the Bulls game yesterday? Yeah, but it was lower than the number of points the Bulls scored.
  18. I saw the same exact thing happen in a high school game I was covering the other day except there were runners on first and second and the catcher threw to third. But yeah, it's a sac and a FC and no AB.
  19. a baseball clubhouse is not really comparable to an office-setting. drinking in the clubhouse is not the problem, it's alcoholism in general. they might as well just ban drinking in general for all the good this will accomplish. Alcoholism isn't the reason people drink and drive. The problem is drinking in a setting in which you are pretty certain to be driving afterward. It's like suburban strip mall bars. Providing beers in a home clubhouse pretty much ensures somebody will be driving home under the influence. And if the team provides beer, then allows the guy to drink and drive, and the guy kills somebody because he was drunk, the team could be held liable.
