  1. The Mets should just pull a Jackass-esque trick on Sele - come up behind him with a razor and shave a patch off. Maybe that will convince him.
  2. From this thread. Dusty isn't doing the game. This game is in Shea...he may very well be doing the game. Yeah, I misread his statement. I thought he meant he couldn't do a Cubs game at this point.
  3. Well, not exactly Interleague schedules: Cubs: 3 vs CHW, 3 at CHW, 3 vs SEA, 3 at TEX Brewers: 3 vs MIN, 3 at MIN, 3 at TEX, 3 at DET, 3 vs KC Cardinals: 3 at DET, 3 vs LAA, 3 at KC, 3 vs KC, 3 at OAK Astros: 3 vs TEX, 3 at TEX, 3 at CHW, 3 vs OAK, 3 vs SEA, 3 at LAA Cubs: 9 vs mediocre (CHW, SEA), 3 vs bad (TEX) Brewers: 3 vs very good (DET), 6 vs mediocre (MIN), 6 vs bad (TEX, KC) Cardinals: 3 vs very good (DET), 6 vs good (LAA, OAK), 6 vs bad (KC) Astros: 6 vs good (LAA, OAK), 6 vs mediocre (CHW, SEA), 6 vs bad (TEX) Based on this, the Cardinals actually have the toughest interleague schedule with 9 games against good teams. Their schedule just appears easier because they have 6 against the worst AL team. The Cubs probably have the easiest schedule out of all the teams with no true good teams on their schedule. Note: Even though both are 2 games over .500, I classified the A's as good but the White Sox as mediocre because of each teams RS/RA differential.
  4. Lincecum had one bad start against Philly which was made worse because he got burned on a couple bad pitches he made (to Howard and Victorino). He then came back to go 7 innings, giving up 3 R, 2 ER in Colorado a few days later. He pitched much better in his second start. But either way, that's a bad example because it's only two starts (well, 1 at the time you posted this, but the point remains).
  5. Which means that the Cubs will do exactly that and sign him to a long term deal.
  6. My guess is that they'll keep it going, but I don't think they have much hope for success. I think what probably saved West Ham's bacon is that they more or less reported the contract issue themselves. Sheff should have focused on taking care of business at home against Wigan and they'd have been safe. A draw at home against a relegation rival should be your focus; not what West Ham does on the road. Say what you will about the Tevez/Mascherano fiasco (and I really think it was a fiasco), you have to give credit to West Ham for an incredible run at the end of the season. They won 7 of their last 10 matches, including their last 4 in a row; in any league, that's pretty darn good. I watched the Man U/West Ham game, and it was a good match. Man U deserved at least a point out of it, but West Ham also had some nice chances -- including an open net post hit by Boa Morte and what probably should have been a penalty kick. West Ham should also be happy that Man U didn't need the game. If Chelsea beats both Man U and Arsenal down the stretch, Man U would have needed to win the game and the result likely would have been different. But Chelsea didn't win, so Man U didn't need to win, and West Ham certainly benefitted from that. True enough, but it's not like Man U didn't play solid football or field a decent team. Yeah. It was nowhere near as bad (subs included) as the lineup they fielded against Chelsea in the midweek game.
  7. From this thread. Dusty isn't doing the game.
  8. I just laughed when, on Jackie Robinson Day this year, that they had interviews with some black players who made it sound like it was a huge tragedy that the number of blacks in baseball is decreasing and that it's imperative that more blacks get play baseball. I mean, it's not like they are getting kept out of the game. The kids are simply choosing to play other sports. It's not that big of a deal. Oh yeah, and Jesse Jackson is a moran.
  9. Very interesting.
  10. Nah, Rotoworld is wrong. Cust will easily have 500 by the ASB, pass Bonds/Aaron in mid-August and he'll hit 1000 on September 29.
  11. yeah everyone should be allowed to get drunk at their workplace cus they are clearly getting drunk in the clubhouse ALL the time  the guy who killed himself on the cards got lit at the bar, not the clubhouse..how many mlb players lately have gotten DUIs driving home from the game? And how many get pulled over but the police let them go because they are baseball players? I'm guessing more than the number who actually get DUI's. Just because the number of DUI's isn't high doesn't mean they aren't driving while over the legal limit.
  12. at the 1-5 for the I-Cubs today (Patterson, Pie, Fontenot, Hoffpauir, Hill): 14-26, 2 2B, 3B, 3 HR, 15 RBI.
  13. The Bulls are not going into Detroit and taking Game 5. There is no way. This isn't as much of a certainty as Golden State winning Game 3 was (around 99.999999) but it's close. I don't see a veteran team like the Pistons blowing Game 5 at home. I would love to see it happen but I don't think it will.

  15. Well, with the win the Jazz all but guaranteed themselves a birth in the next round a 5 game beat down at the hands of San Antonio. That will be another series that I have no interest in and won't likely watch.
  16. Dusty won't be doing it. In another thread (I believe in Baseball Discussions) he said that he wouldn't be doing any Cubs games this year.
  17. I'm assuming by bogus you mean stupid.
  18. You were asking for that one Okur.
  19. Baron must have learned that one at UCLA.
  20. Free throw shooting is going to kill the Warriors again. I just knew Fisher was going to nail that three right when he let it go.
  21. Way too many threes for the Warriors. It's only too many when you aren't making them. And tonight, the Warriors aren't making them.
  22. Warriors down 1 at halftime.
