  1. http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/2002/B09040OAK2002.htm Probably the most amazing game I've ever been to both in how it went down and the significance of the game. That was the second biggest baseball attendance ever at the Coliseum (and largest regular season crowd) and the only time I've ever seen Mount Davis almost completely full.
  2. I completely forgot Farnsworth was a starter at one point.
  3. This road trip should be very horrifying.... fixed No, watch them play STELLAR vs. GOOD opponents. (I'm hoping anyway. ) I'm going to witness at least 2, and possibly 5 of these upcoming games, so they better play well. As long as you're name isn't Mark_R, that's fine. Hope you get to watch some Cub wins.
  4. 1. As long as the Cubs are in contention (which they likely will be for most of the year) there is absolutely no way Hendry trades Zambrano. He's just not going to do it. Hendry's job is on the line right now and if he trades Z, the pitcher who steps in for Z stinks it up and the Cubs falter down the stretch to miss the playoffs, Hendry's gone. He won't trade Z. There's no way. 2. Even if Z has a piss poor season, that's not necessarily going to drive down his price all that much. In his four full years as a starter so far, he's put up an ERA+ over 130. Jeff Weaver had a 5.76 ERA and is getting $8M this year. Z might drop from $18M to $15M (and at $15M it would still be vastly overpaying) but he's not going to drop to $10M with one bad year based on what he's done in the past. He may not have as many teams putting up big bids for him, but some team will fork up a ton of money.
  5. My editor and a couple of his friends are going to Seattle for a couple games in July and he made a comment about how he hopes he doesn't get stuck watching Jeff Weaver start a game. I told him that if the Mariners are still starting Jeff Weaver in July, that their whole coaching staff and front office should be fired.
  6. Is it too early to start thinking Wild Card?
  7. Wait, so you saw both the Cubs and Bulls live today and jinxed both?
  8. LOL...he might be better off trying to skip the ball home, the same method used when trying to skip rocks on a lake. As fast as he is, I think he should have just tried outrunning the guy home. I think he would have had a better chance. My editor and I had on FSN's Final Score at work that night when they showed that and I said the exact same thing.
  9. 2005 Macias and his .316 SLG (that's right, SLG) along with his 54 OPS+ want in on the all time worst team.
  10. soccer10k things Z needs to not suck so much. interesting observation. Thanks. I put a lot of thought into it. :D
  11. Before I react I would like to say that this is in no way directed at you rather at the Orioles. That being said.... Jeff Weaver, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Dude would make their starting pitching worse. This is the same Jeff Weaver who gave up 6 runs in 5 innings today and saw his ERA drop over a run (from 15.35 to 14.32) and has a WHIP of 2.59. Even Wade Miller thinks Weaver has pitched horribly this year. Would you want this guy http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6200.jpg on your team? He looks like he's baked out of his mind.
  12. There's no way he gets traded if the Cubs are in contention but if he walks at the end of the year and the Cubs get nothing in return, I'm gonna be pissed.
  13. Baltimore would love to get a pitcher like Z, but I don't think they'd be willing to trade Tejada, given that the closest thing they have to another shortstop would be Chris Gomez or Brandon Fahey, hitting .165 at Triple-A Norfolk. They can have Izzy or Cedeno.
  14. soccer10k things Z needs to not suck so much.
  15. I really don't think anyone said that, surely. Oh I think you had better re-read some threads then. I believe what they said was in a few years Deron Williams will be carrying Eric Gordon's bags. Lol. Deron Williams is a Steve Nash away from being the best pg in the league. Notice I said pg, not sg playing the position. Gilbert, I am looking at you. No offense to Deron because if I was picking a point guard for the future, he would be the one, but right now I would take Jason Kidd as the #2 behind Nash. I watched that Illinois team a ton during the year they made the run at going undefeated and I always liked the way he ran that team and ran that offense. He was always in control when he had the ball and consistently made good decisions. You really think Kidd is still better than him? Plus Ason Kidd might be the worst shooter in the NBA. Reguardless Dwill is in the conversation and is only going to get better. Kidd brings the rebounding also. But yeah, in another year or two Williams is likely ahead of Kidd.
  16. Just like the Cubs.
  17. This road trip should be very interesting.... With 13 of the next 16 games on the road, I shudder to think what the Cubs record will be when Florida comes to town on May 28.
  18. there is no such thing as clutch Sure there is. Clutch hitting exists. Clutch hitters do not. Winner.
  19. game's not over. Is there any doubt that the Cubs will go down 1-2-3 in the ninth?
  20. I love losing 2 out of 3 to the Pirates. It's so much fun.
