  1. If they lose the next two games it will be their third 14+ game losing streak of the year. Their longest streak before this year was 13.
  2. That was a May or June type of Cubs loss.
  3. Well that escalated quickly. Stupid rally too with a blooper and an infield single before it.
  4. 3 more SB for Ohtani and the game isn’t over yet. 44-46 now on the year. Inching closer to 50-50.
  5. White Sox have to go 12-13 to avoid 120 losses.
  6. This could be a wild couple days depending on how these night matches go. Alcaraz yesterday, Djokovic today. Sabalenka drops the first set as does Zverev (he's up 5-4 on serve in the second).
  7. Ohtani is the first player to go 43 and 43 in a season.
  8. Deion tried to F up the end of the Colorado game. After a penalty, Colorado had 1st and 10 with 1:41 left and NDSt had 1 timeout. Could have just had his kid run around for a few seconds, burn off 5-6 seconds each play and kill the game. Instead, they throw the ball deep on 1st down for an incomplete pass, which allowed NDSt to get the ball back with 30 seconds left. They got to around midfield and had a Hail Mary come up 5 yards short.
  9. 31-104. Their next 12 games are against the Mets, Orioles, Red Sox and Guardians.
  10. I'm a bit surprised that there wasn't a Rockies home series in the late 90's where each team scored double digits in every game.
  11. Ohtani with a HR and 2 SB tonight so he's at 42-42 for the year. ARod in 98 is the only guy with at least 42 in both categories in a season. Somebody can fact check me, but a quick Google search tells me only two players (Barry Bonds and Brady Anderson) have ever had 50 SB in a season and 50 HR in a season (obviously not the same season).
  12. Arbitrary end points because it starts with their 21 game losing streak, but they're now 4-36 in their last 40 games.
  13. The complaints are 100% going to be about there being 2 or 3 SEC teams in the final four most years.
  14. I was just saying why they got left out last year, not that I agreed with it. I thought FSU should have gotten the spot over Bama because they went undefeated. So yes, what happens in September usually does matter. Most years a QB doesn’t suffer a season ending injury (and when he does, sometimes the backup or third stringer are actually good like that OSU team with Cardale Jones or even Mac Jones when Tua got hurt).
  15. Marcell Ozuna might win the Triple Crown too! He’s first in BA and RBI and 4 back of Ohtani in HR.
  16. I always liked the uniqueness of college football where you had to be perfect to be assured of a shot. I know FSU got left out last year but that was fluky in that not only did their QB get hurt but the backups looked like hot garbage. If the QB doesn’t get hurt, they’re in. In the backups at least look competent, they get in. I’m not a fan of an FBS team so I don’t have to worry about my team’s season being over after 1 or 2 losses. I also don’t care if maybe the best team doesn't make the playoff, like Georgia last year, because they lost 1 game at the wrong time. And yes my counter is that they shouldn’t have lost that game. If these teams actually played a tough schedule that featured more than 3-4 games they could conceivably lose each year (I.e. don’t play an FCS team and 2 crappy FBS teams each year in your non-conference) I’d be on board with a 12 team playoff. But if you can’t win the 3-4 tough games on your schedule, oh well.
  17. He’s at 9.5 WAR right now. That’s wild. Also, poor Bobby Witt, who might put up a 10 WAR season and won’t get a first place MVP vote.
  18. So this is a red card: but somehow this is only a yellow card: Makes total sense.
  19. I have no idea when the last time something like this happened. We've got about 30 games left and there are 10 teams within 4.5 games of each other for the best record.
  20. They need a sweep or two to balance out getting swept by Cleveland. On average, they have to win close to every series the rest of the way (so winning 1 of 3 is okay if you sweep the next series). They've done that since the deadline. 6 series since the deadline (including the 2-gamer against the Sox) and they've won 5. The problem is they got swept by Cleveland but haven't swept a series. Would be really nice to at least go 9-3 against Mia, Pit, Wash and Pit leading into the NYY-LAD week. It also doesn't help that since the All Star Break, Ari is 23-8 and SD is 22-8 so everyone is essentially competing for one spot.
  21. Can we get him to play the OF for one year? I assume we'd get a ridiculous defensive play every week in the outfield combined with him throwing out like 37 runners on the bases. I mean, he's good at literally everything else in baseball so I'm sure he'd be a gold glover at whatever defensive position he played.
  22. Ohtani just hit a walk off grand slam for his 40th HR. He stole his 40th base earlier in the game too. I think we're officially on 50-50 watch.
  23. 1 HR and 3 SB in the next 12 days and he'll go 40-40 before September. It's wild how good this dude is. And we don't even get to see him gun down runners from the OF, which I'm sure he'd excel at if he actually played out there.
