  1. They both started doing gay porn movies between the contests. It helped with their training.
  2. Would Dunn really be that much of a butcher in RF if the Cubs somehow got that deal done? I mean his bat alone already makes up for a lot of it and the Cubs could afford another black hole in the order (at least for the moment) in playing Pie everyday in CF. I would think his range would at least help lessen the damage Dunn could do in RF. Soriano has proven to be a more than capable LFer so Pie could just shade over to right a bit to help out Dunn. I'm just thinking out loud and just throwing this out there so if I'm completely off base, don't rip into me too hard.
  3. Can we replace Rich Hill with Koyie Hill in that deal? :D
  4. Somebody brought this up in another thread (and I have no idea which one) but under the proposed deal the Cubs would be paying all but the league minimum (or around that figure) while the Marlins would have picked up the rest. But the Cubs would still have to pay another player to take Jones' position on the roster. So essentially the player replacing Jones would have to make the league minimum for the Cubs to not take on any more salary than they would already have by keeping Jones. The player the cubs would most likely add when they remove jacque will most likely make the minimum. I realize that's a definite possibility but with the Cubs being a major market team it's not a guarantee like it would be with the smaller market teams.
  5. Cust is precisely the reason the A's are bringing Piazza back as a catcher. He was supposed to start his rehab stint in Sacramento but when the A's made this decision they gave him some extra time to make sure his shoulder was ready before he started throwing.
  6. The Cubs just didn't have a book on Chico, dude.
  7. If he gets moved anywhere it should be to the #2 spot. But I'm fine with him where he is.
  8. Well, with Mexico's 0-0 tie against Chile and Brazil's 1-0 win over Ecuador, the USA's already slim chances of advancing to the knockout stage of the Copa America were erased today. The two third place teams in Groups A and B - Uruguay and Chile - both have four points while the US can only get three with a win tomorrow.
  9. This happened to me...he'll get to it and I'll assume, like he did for me, he'll start your new premium from the time he updates it. It sucks, though, while you are waiting for it. Yeah, it sucks slumming on the regular board. That's what you get for waiting until the last minute to renew.
  10. Amen to that. Hopefully the Cubs can win tomorrow so going into the Pittsburgh series they be, at worst, 5.5 out.
  11. None. And Hill should have a pretty long leash, seeing as he's *still* the Cubs second best pitcher this season. You could easily make a case for both Lilly and Marquis being better than Hill this year. But they're all pretty close so any difference between the three is a small one. Marquis has definitely been better after you put this start from Hill in. His ERA is half a run lower. His opponents OPS is probably 70-80 points lower than Hill's. The only thing Hill would have on him is WHIP, which isn't the best indicator when you consider that Hill is a fly ball pitcher who gives up lots of extra base hits and Marquis is a ground ball pitcher who gives up lots of singles. regardless, the cubs' starting rotation has been very good this year. Last year if we were having this conversation, we'd be talking about a bunch of guys with ERAs over 5.00 once you got past Zambrano. If Rich Hill is the Cubs 4th or 5th best starter with an ERA under 4.00 and a good WHIP, I'm fine with that. I can definitely agree with that. Right now the worst ERA out of the Cubs' current starters is 4.04 for Z.

You could easily make a case for both Lilly and Marquis being better than Hill this year. But they're all pretty close so any difference between the three is a small one. Heh, I actually have Marquis as the best starter this season so far but there's definitely a good argument for Lilly ahead of Hill now. Z still has a bit of work to go. But hey, that's just my opinion. Yeah, my bad and I agree with you. I assumed (incorrectly and stupidly) that Z was the ace. Marquis, Hill, and Lilly are the top-3 this year. I docked Marquis a bit because he's got a worse WHIP than Hill and Lilly though he does have the better ERA.

  14. Good job Rich. Looks like that July ERA will be going the way of May and not April. And on an 1-2 pitch, to boot. =D> EDIT: Fixed the count.
  15. HAHAHA!!! Young just accidentally spit on himself.
  16. That's what most people are doing. Z sucked the first two months, then declared it a new season and has been great. Overall, he's been an average pitcher. Rich Hill has had an amazing April but has had a mediocre May and June. He's been an above average pitcher on the whole this year.
  17. Because the ump 90 feet away has a better viewpoint on whether it was a swing or not than the ump 6 feet away.
  18. Well, might as well just save some time, put a couple outs on the board and go to the bottom of the fifth.
  19. I know you're trying to defend Rich, but he's been pretty mediocre for some time now. true, 10th best WHIP among major league starters is just not getting it done He had a great April which is bringing down his numbers. April: 1.77 ERA, 0.87 WHIP May: 4.66 ERA, 1.31 WHIP June: 4.32 ERA, 1.17 WHIP
  20. I know you're trying to defend Rich, but he's been pretty mediocre for some time now. How could you say such a thing? Rich Hill is a god among men.
  21. Not so fun fact: Rich Hill has allowed more home runs (17) than doubles (13) this year.
