  1. Time for ARam to come through again...this time with insurance runs.
  2. What Gameday are you using? MLB Gameday is working fine for me.
  3. Hopefully Demp can send the Cards down 1-2-3 in the ninth.
  4. And it all started with a hit by the pitcher.
  5. left hamstring tendinitis Thanks. Hopefully it isn't serious.
  6. Except he's already produced in the big leagues over nearly a full season. indeed he has. why people are clamoring for the guy who DIDN'T produce in the big leagues over a full season, I just don't know. but that's another thread. also, i don't care what Murton makes salary-wise. cheap is cheap. good is good. occasionally, those two coexist also, also, for the record, i'm not actively arguing against murton being given a chance. i'm simply playing devil's advocate to everyone who sees him as a guaranteed whatever in RF If you're talking about Cedeno, the last time I checked, Murton and Cedeno play different positions.
  7. Seriously, I hope the Wrigley fans give him a 10 minute standing ovation the first day he takes the mound. Sadly, it will probably be the opposite. I doubt it. Kerry Wood is probably the most universally loved player the Cubs have had since Sandberg I was out by the players parking lot during a game in 2005 waiting for players to come out. The first player to come out was a disabled Kerry Wood. When he walked out, a guy yells "KERRY WOOD GET THE HELL OUT OF CHICAGO YOU BUM!" and then the rest of the crowd, almost if on cue started a long, loud booing. Kerry pretended like he didn't notice it, but you could see it in his eyes that he did. Experiences like that make me wonder why he said that he owed it to the fans to come back this season. Were they booing Wood or booing the guy that shouted at Wood?
  8. I'll probably have this on my computer during the Monarchs game I'm covering tonight but I won't be able to follow it very closely.
  9. I think Gallardo is the real deal, but I also think like most pitchers there will be a period of adjustment when teams start to get a book on him. That should give him 2-3 bad starts before he makes a counter adjustment. You also have to look at his IP. The original plan for him was to throw him in limited innings out of the bullpen so that he didn't get above 160 IP, and then let him loose in late August for the stretch run. He is now quickly approaching 160 IP. Will be interesting to see what they do at that point. Do they limit his IP to 5 innings a game no matter what? Do they just say forget it and ride him Dusty style. Only if they want him on the DL Prior/Wood style.
  10. Apparently a deal to the Angels involving Ervin Santana fell through... not sure how true it is, but i saw it on cnnsi.com. Why? They just sent him down. Might as well trade him for Tex. Could have been the Rangers who turned it down.
  11. Why? Serious why or sarcastic why? They wouldn't trade him to a team they are about to play and have him turn around and hurt them right away would they? In the division no less? I mean, I know its happened before and probably will again, and I know Krivsky isn't bright, but it just doesn't ring true to me. It would be incredibly stupid to hold up a trade for that reason. It would also be incredibly stupid to trade a player if you don't have to yet, i.e the deadline isn't till after the series. But excuse me for suggesting it, just seemed a bit off to me. That's a valid thought, but you also have to look at it from the prospective that Cincy might want to get their new players asap and not just beat around the bush with it. They won't be getting NEW players, they'll be getting players we don't want hopefully--Jones, Eyre, etc. They won't just give away Dunn... and even if they do accept jones and eyre, they would at least have to believe they could help the team some how and would want them soon. I would think that Murton would be a part of any deal for Dunn.
  12. Good question. I'd try, but have no idea where to start. :D Research past playoff history on MLB.com. Look at game 3's for the past 5 years, and let us know what % of those who won game 3 won the series ;-). I looked at the last two years out of curiosity. In 2006 the game 3 winner ultimately won 6 of the 7 postseason series (the St. Louis vs. San Diego NLDS was the exception). And in 2005 the game 3 winner won all 7 series. So that's a 13-1 record for game 3 winners. To put a little perspective to that, in series that were tied at one in 2005 and 2006, the team that won game 3 won the series all seven times. To go back a little farther, since 2000 in series that were tied at one the team that won game 3 went 21-5 in the series. The Marlins in 2003 actually lost game 3's in this situation (series tied at 1) to both the Cubs and Yankees. So yeah, when the series is tied, Game 3 is very important. but your 3rd starter doesn't always start Game 3. If you didn't clinch the playoff spot until the final day of the season, it may have been your ace who pitched on that Sunday, meaning your ace would be pitching Game 3 Yeah, I was going to add that right now about how a #3 starter doesn't necessarily start game 3.

  14. Heh. Yeah. I only read the first two lines of Laura's post before making mine and read the other two after. But to get on the topic, I would much rather see what Cedeno can do at shortstop instead of trading for an average guy like Felipe Lopez. Obviously if the Cubs got ARod (I know, not happening before the trade deadline), who cares what they do with Cedeno. But since that's not happening, give Ronny his shot.
  15. Sorry, was signed and they planned him to play RF. Then it was center then they decided to move him to left and throw the whole outfield into a major problem defensively. I'm only 20, my memory can't be that bad. I recall him being signed to play left, then center, then left again. apparently it is. Many people on this board have said he was signed to play right. There were conflicting reports. Alot of newspaper outlets flew with one positoin (don't remember which), but Bruce was on here and said the opposite. I don't even remember who was right. I believe Bruce reported here that Soriano was signed to play right.
  16. It's still today on the West Coast.
  17. They are an enjoyable read. You also get to look into the mind of a 15 year old CT, which is always fun. And Roast as well.
