    Might as well have. Given how he's hitting lately, bunting might be the right move no matter the inning. I don't care how poorly somebody's hitting, unless you're a pitcher, there's no reason to sac bunt in the 1st inning. I could kind of understand if you're trying to avoid the double play, but Soriano was on second so that wasn't going to happen anyway.

    Michigan's defense held Notre Dame's offense to fewer total yards than Penn State did. Michigan's offense also looked better than Penn State's offense did against Michigan. And yes, I think Ryan Mallett is a better QB than Anthony Morelli. Just because he's a freshman and is only starting his second game doesn't mean he's a worse quarterback. It just means he hasn't started as many games in college. In addition to that, Mike Hart >>>>> Austin Scott and Mario Manningham is a better WR than anybody on Penn State. Michigan has a better offense and the defenses are probably comparable with Penn State's being a little better but not enough to make up for the gap in the two offenses. Like I said, Michigan will win this game.

    I don't know how much UM will win by but I feel pretty confident saying they will beat Penn State. based on? I don't think Penn State is very good, UM has the better starting QB and offense in general, and the game is at the Big House.

    For those who don't know, the Champions League group stage begins tomorrow. FC Porto-Liverpool is on ESPN2 tomorrow and Sporting Lisbon-Man United is on Wednesday. Schedule Standings Group C (Lazio, Olympiacos, Real Madrid, Werder Bremen) and Group D (AC Milan, Benfica, Celtic) look like the toughest groups. Man United and Roma are also paired together in Group F.

    Is that before the bowl game or after? If Penn State, or Wisconsin or OSU for that matter, go undefeated through the regular season this year, there is going to be some skepticism about that team because of what happened to OSU and UM in the bowl games last year. But if Penn State wins the National Title, people will give them the respect they deserve.

And even if it isn't accurate, anything in the 80's would be far, far better than the 100+ on September 1 for the opener.

    They would have won it in regulation had Josh McCown not overthrown Jerry Porter when he had two steps on Dre Bly and could have cruised into the endzone with 32 seconds left in regulation. Any decent quarterback hits Porter in stride. Hell, where Porter was on the field, even if McCown underthrows it and Porter gets tackled, the Raiders are in position for a 35-40 yard field goal. I can't really fault Janikowski as it's not an easy task to make back-to-back 50+ yard field goals especially after you make the first one and something like that happens with Shanahan calling a timeout. Bleh.

    A couple notes about the game: -The Cubs have homered in a season-high 10 games in a row. -The Cubs are 39-36 on the road and 39-36 at Wrigley Field. And my personal favorite: -The Cubs finished 11-5 against the Cardinals. :D

    They're going to challenge the Raiders for last place in the AFC West this year. The two games between the two are not going to be pretty.

    Just saw that former UC Davis QB J.T. O'Sullivan relieved Jon Kitna today in the Lions-Vikings game. 13-23, 148, 1 TD, 2 INT.

    Jerry Porter had Dre Bly beat for a touchdown and McCown overthrew him by a couple yards. ARGH. EDIT: I LOVE WASTING TIMEOUTS AFTER INCOMPLETE PASSES!!! WOOO!!! And then the idiot McCown throws a pick.
