  1. It can't possibly be that bad, can it? I'd much rather watch tennis than the Cubs lose again.
  2. The Brewers hit a home run, the Cubs hit into a DP. The common link? Both cleared the bases.
  3. <--- flips back to the U.S. Open tennis match on USA.
  4. The game is on ESPN so MLB.TV is blacked out.
  5. How much does his defense really take away from what he does offensively?
  6. before i slam, what is the reasoning behind it? his utter lack of defensive competence. I don't think you can call him overrated though. He's been one of the top hitters in the league for a number of years now and while his defense is below average, everybody knows it. It's not like Jeter where most people perceive him to be a god defensively. People know Manny's shortcomings and deal with them.
  7. Hopefully the Cubs can unload some contracts - Jacque, Eyre, maybe Dempster - and with the Barrett/Kendall money coming off the books they should be able to do something. I don't think they'll be completely handcuffed in the offseason.
  8. Wait, so you're saying that booing somebody is bullying them? That makes no sense.
  9. Do we know why Patterson was late to the stadium? And when was Monroe late to the park?
  10. I would like to request that 'UC Davis' be known as 'The Pathetic Losers From Davis' until further notice. Feel free to shorten it to TPLFD. Yes I still am that ticked off. If they were playing at home this week I wouldn't go to the game (unless I had to work) after that sorry spectacle last Saturday.
  11. I could watch this game because I don't have to work until the night but I really don't think I'm going to. Cubs lose 7-1 as the lefty shuts them down for 7 innings.
  12. This is a pathetic excuse for a team. If they're going to miss the playoffs, I hope they just end it now with a 8-10 game losing streak rather than dragging it out until the last couple games of the year.
  13. Neifi Perez...by Hendry and Dusty, at least. And the Tigers for a little while.
  14. He's a rookie. So is Ryan Braun, Hunter Pence, Dustin Pedrioa, Troy Tuluotski and you see them playing well. Do you know what Pedroia's OPS was in 2006? .561 in 98 PA's Do you know what his OPS was in April this year? .544 in 65 PA's Just because Gordon started slow while other rookies started fast doesn't mean he's overrated. Also, Gordon was horrible in April and May but put up OPS's of .883 in June and .810 in August (he had a .677 OPS in July which was still better than April and May).
  15. I love the word filter.
  16. He's a rookie.
  17. Is that the U.S. roster for the game against Brazil?
  18. I agree. I also enjoy seeing Michigan completely falling out of the top 25. if Michigan really kill Oregon, I can see the stupid voters bringing them right back to the low teens again Dixon is going to be even harder to handle than that dude from A State. Michigan is going down again. I am pretty sure that I seen that Michigan was favored by 8 this weekend. I may be wrong though. Correct. The various books listed on USAtoday.com had either 8 or 8.5 as the spread.
  19. Lee is gaining his power back. Post ASB he has 11 HR's in 44 games which puts him on pace for 40.5 over 162 games. He's also putting up the second highest OPS of his career. Ramirez's OPS this year (.906) is only down slightly from the last two years (.913, .926) and he's hurt. Yeah, he's not hitting HR's as often as wel would like but he's still just as productive. Soriano was adjusting to a new position in April and that probably affected how he was doing at the plate. He missed time in April and just spent time on the DL. This year is the first since he became a full time starter in 2001 that he'll play fewer than 140 games in a season. Jacque, well, I don't really see an explanation for him.
  20. There's a difference in having great stuff and harnessing or maximizing that great stuff. His control isn't that great. That factors in to determining how great a pitchers 'stuff' is. Is there a stat on "stuff"? Uhhh...no. Why are you asking that question anyway? It's a joke! I'm just joking around. Ah, my bad. :D It appears my sarcasm detector isn't working properly today.
