It was frustrating in that we knew we had a ton of talent yet were playing .500 baseball. I know it was also exciting because we had a ton of young talent, but right now we’re winning games. In 2016 we won games right from the start. Winning is more fun to me. That’s not to say 2015 wasn’t fun and exciting. But if I’m ranking the three years of 15, 16 and 25, the 2015 season ranks third (obviously this year could still take a down turn, though hopefully not).

The last two months of 2015 were great but the first 4 were frustrating. Sure we ended with 97 wins but we were 52-47 on July 28. The 2016 season was great outside of a 3 week stretch where we went 5-15. The other 142 games we beat the horsefeathers out of the league at a 112 win pace.

And even then, they play Mon and Thu in Florida, but then Sat back in Edmonton. Os they have the extra day off when they’re staying in Florida.

Slightly different angle, this thing could have gone in directly, goalie could have accidentally knocked it in or the Oilers player could have knocked it in accidentally. And yet it stays out.

Spurs fired Ange. Thomas Frank is the betting favorite to take over with Marco Silva second. Thanks for the trophy, wish him the best wherever you go next, but I think he had to go.

The 99-00 Lakers weren’t as dominant statistically, but the Thunder remind me of that team a bit. Dominant regular season team (LA was 67-15, Thunder 68-14), never made the finals before (this was OKC’s first conf finals, Lakers were swept in 98 in the conf finals) and struggled a bit in the playoffs (Lakers more so than the Thunder so far as they were 11-6 entering the finals and ended up 15-8).

After beating the Dodgers on May 13, the A’s were 22-20. They’re currently 23-39.

Man that was an ass kicking. Not surprised PSG but surprised they won like that. Rough end of the year for Inter. Lose the UCL final, lose Serie A by a point, lose in the semis of the Coppa Italia. They also lost the final of the Italian Supercup.

Kendrick Perkins is really dumb, but this is impressively dumb even for him. Yes, noted family men Magic Johnson (slept around for years), Kobe Bryant (raped a woman) and Shaq (self admitted serial cheater). I'm sure there are others but as far as I know, Durant isn't married and doesn't have kids.

Panthers are the 4th team since 1980 to make 3 straight Stanley Cup Finals, along with the Islanders, Oilers and Lightning. A little surprised that neither Pittsburgh nor Detroit did it.

The Rockies are 1/3 of the way through their season and are 9-45, which is a pace of 27-135. To match the White Sox mark of 41-121, the Rockies would have to go 32-76, which is a 48 win pace. The Rockies have a RD of -173. The WS last year were 15-39 with a -116 RD through 54 games, but were in the midst of a 14 game winning streak with 21 and 12 game losing streaks still to come. So it seems pretty bleak. However, the 2023 A's were 10-44 with a -190 RD through 54 games but they went 40-68 the rest of the way and only lost 112 games.

Pretty awesome that a thrilling Min-OKC game ends with a combined 10 FTs and 6 fouls in the final 20 seconds. Just thrilling stuff.

I like Ange. Seems like a good dude. From what I've seen he's pretty thoughtful in his press conferences and seems pretty down to earth. There are definitely reasons to bring him back. I just hope if they bring him back, it's not because he won a trophy. ManU was in the exact same spot with ten Hag last year. The finished 8th with a -1 GD and they 1 of 6 UCL games to finish last in a group with Copenhagen and Galatasaray, But they had a fluky FA Cup run where they beat Man City in the final and kept ten Hag. He lasted 2 1/2 months this year and got fired anyway. There's a decent chance that sunk their season this year because rather than getting a new manager in who could bring in players who fit his system and giving him a full preseason with the team, they had to pivot mid year. So if Spurs want to keep Ange because they think all the injuries were fluky and think he can be successful with a hopefully deeper squad next year that can entice players with UCL games, fine. I disagree, but I understand it. But don't keep him on because he won a trophy, because that's likely not going to end well.

COYS! It's the year of ending droughts so why have Spurs do the same. Palace won their first trophy ever. Newcastle won their first in 70 years or whatever it was. Bologna won their first trophy in 50 years. Either a third division side (though promoted to the second) or Stuttgart (last trophy 2007) will win the DFB Pokal. Not feeling too great about it because Spurs kind of suck. Their last league win over a non-relegated team was on Feb 16 (over ManU). Of course, ManU sucks just as much, and their last league win against a non-relegated team was Jan 26. Wish Maddison was healthy but at least we have our two CB there and Spurs have been much better defensively when both Romero and van de Ven are both in the lineup.
