  1. I hope the guy is alright but I can't stop watching that clip.
  2. Mets have ~$80 million committed to next year after running with a totally payroll pushing $180 last year. Reid-Foley's got a young Lackey thing going, Pedormo looks like a potential power lefty reliever. Both need at least another full season in the minors Where are you seeing $180M? Opening day payroll was $135M according to Cot's. Loney was free and they added less than $10M with Bruce and Niese.
  3. The article said it's a concession to the players since the league wants to drop to ~28 players in September instead of the full 40-man being available (because of the boogyman that 40-man roster OMG games take forever in September narrative). I really don't get why they can't just make a rule that a team can carry up to 40 in September but they can only have a 25 man roster for each game that the manager declares before the game. Add a provision that a pitcher who starts has to be on the roster for the next 4 games so teams can't just leave the 4 starters who aren't going that day off the roster.
  4. So that idiot New York writer either a) only paid attention to Murphy's stats against the Mets b) completely ignored defense c) only looked at batting average, RBI and strikeouts
  5. I think we can scratch Louisville out of the playoff discussion.
  6. http://www.espnfc.us/team/united-states/660/blog/post/2997488/us-needs-to-replace-jurgen-klinsmann-after-costa-rica-humiliation-but-will-it Get fucked, Jurgen.
  7. In 2014, 3rd had 15 points and 4th had 11. In 2010 it was 16 for both. In 2006 it was 16 and 13. In 2002 it was 17 and 14 So probably going to need at least 15 to get 3rd. They're already maxed at 24 points and realistically, it's 21 since we'll lose in Mexico. 5-1-1 in the other seven is certainly doable but there's not much room for error any more.
  8. -didn't have his entire team back defending in its own half in the last few seconds against Portugal in the World Cup, allowing them to score a tying goal that could have cost us second place in the group. Sorry, still not over that one.
  9. Last time we lost to a non-Mexico CONCACAF team by 4 goals? 1984 vs. Guatemala. Lost to Mexico 5-0 in the 2009 Gold Cup final but wiki says that was right after the Confed Cup and we sent a second tier squad. Previous 4+ goal loss to a CONCACAF team was 1993 Gold Cup to Mexico.
  10. And now it's just embarrassing and pathetic.
  11. Well this is a solid performance.
  12. He's probably hoping that if he has a repeat year, the Phillies will deal him at the deadline so there's no QO next year.
  13. Looks like the 2007 AFC South and the 2013 NFC West both went 30-10 in non-division games. The worst was the 2008 NFC West at 10-30. The 2014 NFC South also only won 10 games but the Panthers tied a game so that division was 10-29-1.
  14. So Seattle just scored to go up 7 and decided to go for 2. Is the added benefit of potentially being up two scores worth the risk of letting New England just have to kick the extra point if they get the TD?
  15. Haha, same thing happened to me on Friday. None of them were items that could damage or be damaged by the other items so no idea why they couldn't ship together. Oh well, I'm not paying any more because of it.
  16. It's going to be fun as a 3rd party observer to see it all play out. Alabama is already in (would have to lose twice to fall out and LOL SEC East) but every other spot is up for grabs. We could definitely see the first playoff that isn't just 4 conference champs this year. The Big 10 will get really interesting if OSU beats Michigan and PSU wins the Big 10 title game. We'd have -a 2-loss Penn State as the champion with a win over OSU -a 1-loss OSU with a win over Michigan -a 2-loss Michigan that hammered Penn State I'd guess OSU would get in because you can't put PSU in over Michigan because of how badly Michigan beat PSU, but the committee has shown they prioritize conference champions and H2H. Of course, we didn't have a conference champ with a worse record than another team in the same conference either of the last two years. Like you said, Bama's in if they win one of the next two. I actually think Louisville is in if they win their last two regardless of what Clemson does. If Clemson goes down then it's easy to put Louisville in but if Clemson wins out, Louisville's only loss will be by 6 on the road to another playoff team. So barring any major upsets I'll say it's Bama, Clemson, Louisville and OSU/Michigan winner.
  17. Including the postseason, the Cubs are tied with three other teams for the 7th most wins ever in a season. 1998 Yankees - 125 2001 Mariners - 120 1906 Cubs - 118 1986 Mets - 116 1975 Reds - 115 1970 Orioles - 115 2009 Yankees - 114 1927 Yankees - 114 1909 Pirates - 114 2016 Cubs - 114
  18. So the only sure things are Bama at No. 1 and Washington at No. 6 (at best). OSU will be in the top-4 and I'm guessing they'll be No. 2 but I have no idea. Also, if OSU beats Michigan and Penn State wins out, Penn State goes to the Big 10 title game.
  19. It will be interesting how they rank Clemson and Louisville. We'll see how much stock they put in head to head matchups. Under your scenario, I'd guess Bama, OSU, Clemson, Louisville, Michigan, Washington. Michigan would obviously be 2 if they win. Washington will be the lowest ranked of the 1-loss teams and OSU will be ahead of Louisville.
  20. Down goes Clemson. Pitt makes a 48-yard field goal with 6 seconds left to win 43-42.
  21. Well Ireland just made me feel a bit better. Got a huge win in Austria today, 1-0. They're now on 10 points after 4 games and they've already played Serbia and Austria on the road. Looking good for at least second place as long as they don't bomb at home.
  22. Good god, Holden. A man on the back post doesn't save that. Why he's not ranting about that rather than nobody tracking Marquez is baffling.
  23. Nice defending.
  24. Two blown chances there. Should have done better on the open header off the corner and Bradley should have passed to Wood.
  25. Already looked much better in the second half than in the first, and that was true before they scored.
