That would be cool. But I'm not sure that's the way baseball works. Teams can't galvanize under adversity? So the entire storyline of the 2016 World Series Game 7 is hogwash? I'm sure the Cubs are pretty upset with themselves and I can see an unleashing of dongs coming. The World Series story isn't total hogwash but they ended up winning that game more because -they had Schwarber, Bryant, Rizzo coming up in the 10th -they were facing a guy who had thrown 14 pitches in the 9th (and had thrown 73 already in the series in 3 appearances) before sitting during the bottom of the ninth plus the rain delay than because Heyward gave a motivational speech during the delay.

Rich Hill came off the DL today but then left the game after 3 innings because of the same blister issue.

Just like the first game of the year for St Louis, it will probably be the highlight of their season.

Cards are now 3-8 on the year. Cubs didn't lose their 8th game last year until May 11. I'd feel bad for Dex if he wasn't making 85 million over the next 5 years.

Last year's team was 8-1 after 9 games so they're clearly slacking off this year. Of course, they also played the Angels, DBacks and Reds those first 9 games so that might have had something to do with it.

Put it in every thread on all the message boards for every other team, as well. But start with the one on Gateway Redbirds where they were bitter about the Cubs tanking.

For sure. If you offered me the #3 pick right now or roll the dice with the lottery, I'd take the pick without thinking twice. They just need talent, even if they don't get Fultz or Ball.

It's only a 1 pick difference. It's either a 2017 1st and a 2019 1st or a 2018 1st and two second round picks. So they lose a 1st regardless. That's not to say it's nothing but I hate how people in the media are acting like its two 1sts being lost or 0. That being said, yes, the last couple weeks have been annoying. It would have required losing out but they could have caught the Nets also. Drops their chances of keeping their pick from 56% to 47%.

I know we're making fun of the Cardinal defense here, but my god those announcers are so dumb. It literally doesn't matter if Gio came off the bag because the Cardinals guy never tagged him. Once he touches the bag, the force out is gone.

He's 3-0 as a starter, so I'd say he's getting the important parts right Related note, but I just remembered that Heyward Fan managed to go 0-3 as a game thread starter in a year that the Cubs won 103 games.
