Good thing we started Boyd on short rest! -
What’s the upside of Boyd going in Game 1? If we had two stud SP and having Boyd go in G1 means he can go on normal rest in G4, which allows our second guy to go G2 and G5 both on normal rest, then it makes sense. But Taillon can’t go until G3 anyway unless he also goes on short rest in G2. I don’t really need Shota getting two starts in the series either. Short rest starts generally go poorly, though I’m sure most of those guys threw 90+ pitches in their first start before short rest. I guess he’s planning on going Boyd-Shota-Taillon-Boyd-Shota and using the pen liberally in G1 and G2 since there are off days after each game.

Yeah, whoever starts game 1, assuming it's not Boyd, will not start another game this series.

This was my fault. Threw on my Rizzo jersey for both games. Today, no jersey and the Cubs scored first.

Same here. I watched every out and was definitely happy when they won Game 1. But today I was all in.

I think I'd rather just have them start Rea or Assad, have a short leash and use the pen since we have the day off on Sunday. Then let Boyd start on normal rest in Game 2.

I assume that since they like having all the WC games on the same 3 days, they want to give the two bye teams a bit of an advantage. Otherwise a team could throw their ace on normal rest in Game 1. Now you’d have to throw him on short rest.

Except bunting for a hit is a smart thing to do if you’re a decent bunter. PCA is certainly fast enough. Don’t know if he’s a good enough bunter though.
