  1. Bama down 24-7 at Florida St.
  2. So realistically to have a shot at the division, they probably need to pick up 3 games in the next 6 right? 28 games left and 6.5 back, so picking up 3 games would leave us 3.5 back with 22 to play. Obviously they could still win the division even if they don't pick up 3 games, but series with Col and Atl while Mil gets Tor and Phi is a perfect spot to make up ground.
  3. CJ Stroud was pretty good.
  4. Double.
  5. Wait so the Cubs shouldn't have overreacted to a bad 60 games in the weird 2020 Covid season despite him being a significantly better hitter in each of the four previous seasons? WHO KNEW!
  6. Dansby has a .856 OPS against lefties before tonight and batted 7th. Shaw has a .782 OPS against lefties before tonight and batted 8th. I'm sure part of the reaction is because he hit into a double play and if either Dansby or Shaw done the same thing, people would be complaining about that too. Hindsight is always 20-20. And really, that's not what cost us the game anyway. But there isn't really a justification to bat Turner 4th at this point, though having said that he probably doesn't bat lower than 6th against lefties anyway so whatever.
  7. On the plus side, it's pretty likely we can give guys extra days off in September since we'll be locked in to a WC spot. Guess we have to root for the Padres-Dodgers race to go down to the wire.
  8. Lol. I’ve seen enough. I’ll check back in 45 minutes or so.
  9. You're tied 2-2, down a man. There's just over a minute left of added time and you've scored two goals with 10 men to tie the defending league champions. And yet for some reason, you've got 5 guys pressing their 5 (one Liv player off screen to the right). Now, I can do math and that leaves a 5 v 4 behind. And that means that when Liverpool moves the ball well, they end up with a wide open shot, 12 yards out, a couple yards to one side of the penalty spot. Newcastle should have been running a 6-3-0 formation at that point in the game.
  10. Cade has gone 37 innings in his last 7 starts and has a 0.49 ERA with a 2.60 FIP. Arrieta during the last 7 starts in 2015 pitched 55 innings with a 0.33 ERA and a 1.59 FIP. I’ll be shocked if I ever see a 12 start stretch better than Jake’s in the rest of my life.
  11. If they can at least maintain this 5 game gap in the next series (we play in SF, Mil hosts Arizona), then the next 6 games will be a big chance with us playing Colorado and Atlanta while Milwaukee gets Toronto and Philly.
  12. Got a gift with the Angels hitter swinging at a clear ball on 2-0. No idea why he wasn't taking there.
  13. Can someone explain how, before today, Horton was only worth 0.7 bWAR despite a 3.08 ERA in 87.2 IP? That's only 1.6 for a 200 inning season. Fangraphs has him at 1.3, but I believe they're FIP based and before today he had a 3.87 FIP. What am I missing in how B-R calculates WAR?
  14. Spurs voodoo over Man City continues. Poch, Jose, Nuno, Conte, Ange and now Frank all have wins over Pep as Spurs managers. I believe only Liverpool under Klopp have a better record against Pep than Spurs do.
  15. I’ve always hated when the home plate ump makes the call on an iffy check swing. They should always appeal to 1st or 3rd unless it’s super obvious.
  16. Ump pointed at Suzuki as if to say he swung. Catcher pointed to 1st to appeal.
  17. Would still be a $30 increase for a full season. MLB TV last year was $150. Days there that ESPN’s service is $30 per month.
  18. Don't jinx it. There's a decent chance that on Aug 25 that Tucker still hasn't played and the Cubs retroactively put him on the Il.
  19. Rockies record by month (before today). So as many wins in each of the last three months by themselves than in the first two months combined. After tonight's win, the Rockies are 37-89, which is a pace of 47.5 wins. So they'd have to go 4-32 to match the White Sox last year. Probably not happening at this point.
  20. Are you even watching? He was 99-100 that entire inning?
  21. Heart skipped a beat when he made contact. Was fully expecting that to trickle into RF.
