  1. Well that sucks.
  2. Not dead yet. Now no baserunning mistakes like yesterday.
  3. Well crap.
  4. On the plus side for Toronto, they turned the lineup over so Vlad will bat in the 10th.
  5. I'm actually feeling pretty good about it. Either the Blue Jays win, or I likely hit the bet. I guess if Ohtani homers to win the game, but he pitched poorly tonight so he's likely out.
  6. Man, almost two crazy endings there. Foot almost comes off the plate and the Dodgers almost drop the ball colliding with each other.
  7. Man he just missed that.
  8. Vladdy leading off the bottom half.
  9. Unreal. The 9 hitter ties it.
  10. This has been a really fun game.
  11. Ah yes, the immortal Ernie Clement with the most hits ever in a single postseason. And they didn't even play in the WC round either.
  12. Well that home run guarantees Ohtani gets to bat again.
  13. Batter kind of a moron too. Sticks his arm out at a pitch that was high but over the inside of the plate. Then gets mad when he gets hit as if the guy was crazy enough to throw at another player in 3-1 game in Game 7. Just take your base and move on.
  14. If Bichette is healthy that's a run there.
  15. Yeah, I mean, this isn't a catcher having to get his gear on. Get your glove and get out there to warm up.
  16. The Ohtani pitching scenarios in Game 7 are interesting. If they want him to pitch, they basically have to either start him or use him as the closer. If they start him, they can keep him in the game as a DH when they bring a new pitcher in. If they start him as a DH, then bring him in as a reliever, when they take him out, they lose the DH and either lose Ohtani's bat or he has to play in the field.
  17. The Bulls are 5-0 for only the third time ever (95-96 and 96-97). I would have guessed they'd done it 3 or 4 times. As if that wasn't surprising enough, the Spurs are 5-0 for the first time ever. Between 93-94 and 16-17, the Spurs played at a 53 win pace or better (phrased this way due to the two lockout shortened seasons) in 22 of 24 seasons yet somehow never started 5-0. That is wild.
  18. I took a flier on Yamamoto at like 15-1 due to this exact reasoning. Ohtani will probably win, but if he doesn’t do much tomorrow, he really only had the one big game and he didn’t have a great start on the mound either.
  19. Boy that was a rough way to end it. You can’t get doubled off there. I get trying to increase your chances of scoring if the ball drops. But he didn’t even have to dive for the ball. And if the ball drops, it’s in front of the LFer with a short throw so you’re probably not scoring anyway.
  20. I'm not sure we had the pitching. I mean baseball gonna baseball sometimes so you never know. I do think we would have done better than Milwaukee because our offense would have done a better job of getting into their bullpen.
  21. It’s definitely more that LA has no faith in its pen outside of Sasaki. The Brewers offense wasn’t good enough to get into the pen. Roberts probably pitches Snell the same way tonight even if Glasnow had gone all 9 and they didn’t need the pen at all on Monday.
  22. Not worried about the players. This isn't basketball, soccer, football or hockey. They stand around most of the time anyway. They're fine playing 15 innings and then playing a day game (if need be) the next day. Yes, in some situations it could be more taxing in the regular season. But again, you have a AAA team to call guys up from if need be in the regular season. You don't have that luxury in the playoffs. On average, it's going to be more taxing in the playoffs. You're also solving a problem that doesn't really exist. Games longer than 12 innings: The 2019 Cubs played games that went 13, 15 and 15. The 2018 Cubs played games that went 13, 14, 14 and 17. The 2017 Cubs played games that went 13 and 18. The 2016 Cubs played games that went 13, 13, 13, 13 and 15. The 2015 Cubs played games that went 13 and 13 The 2014 Cubs played games that went 13, 13, 13, 16 and 16. The 2013 Cubs played games that went 13, 13, 14 and 15. The 2012 Cubs played one 13 inning game. So the Cubs played 11 games that went into the 14th inning in 8 years. It's really not that big of a deal and you're making it sound like teams play 15+ inning games every couple weeks. Call up a AAA SP and a RP and you're good to go. It's fine.
  23. There’s still a lot of losses to come for the SEC. The 6-2 SEC teams plus Vandy have a lot of H2H games left. We still have Vandy-Texas, Oklahoma-Tennessee, Oklahoma-Missouri and Vandy-Tennessee. Texas also still plays A&M and Georgia, Missouri plays A&M and Oklahoma gets Bama. I guess maybe Vandy could go 10-2 and get passed over because they don’t want to take 5 SEC schools.
  24. Nobody is forcing you to watch all 18 innings of a random regular season game. You could, say, turn the game off and go to bed and watch the highlights the next day! They didn’t happen often but they were fun. I remember a decade ago watching John Baker come in to pitch because the Cubs ran out of pitchers, throwing a scoreless inning, then scoring the winning run in the bottom half. Maybe they’re more fun for me because even a late game doesn’t actually go that late on the West Coast (I went to bed by midnight last night) I would also argue the stress on a pitching staff is likely greater in the playoffs because you can’t just call up a couple relievers to fill innings the next day. Like what happens if either starter gets rocked tonight and only goes 3 innings?
  25. Pure value, Judge is probably worth more. But if we’re talking who is the more skilled player, it’s Ohtani without question. We’ve never seen a player like him before whereas we’ve seen Aaron Judge before.
