  1. Looks ready to have a big year and opt out to clear room for Harper.
  2. I also enjoyed this one:
  3. Not a southpaw, sorry. Can't speak for Duke, though. Reverse splits guy, maybe? And where the horsefeathers is Duke? He's disappeared. Hopefully trying to figure out how to write articles about Cubs players that don't curse them.
  4. You're right, but signing all of those players probably wouldn't put as many fans in the seats as getting Stanton. I don’t think the Giants have any issues with attendance (3rd in MLB in 2017). I’d imagine a competitive team puts more people in the stands than Stanton on a bad team. The actual numbers look good but the bodies in seats went way down last year. You could get secondary market tickets for dirt cheap even in April and May. I imagine they won't sell nearly the same number of tickets before the season like they did last year and if they're a mediocre or bad team again, attendance will drop. They've had a great run in this park because they had Bonds through 2007, and then got good in 2009. The only bad year they had without Bonds was 2008 and attendance dropped by 350K. 2009 they had he same attendance and won 88 games, and I would guess they got a boost in attendance the second half of the year when they were chasing a playoff spot.
  5. Yeah the best part is their best argument is exactly the opposite of what they were arguing last year. That said I think Ohio State has a better resume even w 2 losses. Oh well I’m certainly not complaining! The committee making a bad choice two years in a row isn't a positive. Alabama did nothing to deserve to get in, even if you think they are the best team. They managed to not lose by 31 to anyone this year.
  6. Bama gets the No 4 spot.
  7. I know it's great for fans to get a true champion, but at that point you're talking about kids playing a 16-game season (Ohio St has played 12 reg season, 1 conf championship game, this would potentially add a play-in game, semifinal, and championship game) for free. That's pretty ridiculous. 5 on 5 flag football for the tiebreaker.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet] I wish this could actually happen.
  9. I actually think the Auburn loss makes it a little more likely Bama gets in. If Auburn had won, there would be a 2-loss team in the playoff so it wouldn't be as big of a deal to put another one in. Will be interesting to see who they go with tomorrow. Either way we probably get a rematch from last year since I can't see them dropping Clemson after what they did today. So we'll get Georgia-OU and Bama/OSU-Clemson.
  10. Don't like Wisconsin punting here since it was only 4th and 3.
  11. Hard to say. Wins over PSU, Wisconsin and MSU in their favor, but 31 point loss to Iowa should count against them. On the other hand, Bama didn't beat anyone terribly great (MSST, LSU), and they should (but never are) be penalized for playing FCS schools All of those OSU wins were at home. Best team they even played on the road was Michigan. Bama's best road win was Miss St so it's not like that is a whole lot better. But it really comes down to better wins and a conference title vs worse (and one more) losses. I think Bama is a better team and I'd lean towards putting them in because I can't get over OSU getting demolished by Iowa. But they're pretty close and I won't really care either way who gets left out.
  12. Unless Miami figures something out soon, Clemson and OU will be the top 2 seeds. I assume Georgia is 3 if OSU wins and 4 if Wisconsin wins.
  13. World Cup draw day tomorrow. Can't wait to see who the US gets matched up with.
  14. I love the playoff machine. Got a scenario where 22 teams finish 8-8. There are 25 teams could still finish 8-8 but head to head matchups eliminate 3 of those teams.
  15. Not very often there's such a narrow gap at the top of the polls. Clemson, OU and Wisconsin all got at least 10 first place votes in both polls (Auburn got 4 in the coaches poll). In the AP, 73 points separate 1st from 3rd and 104 from 1st to 4th. In the Coaches, only 31 separate 1st from 3rd and 83 separate 1st from 4th.
  16. Sounds like Tennessee is backing out of the deal.
  17. ESPN reporting Dan Mullen to Florida and Greg Schiano to Tennessee.
  18. I'm not sure they will beat Wisconsin....or at least wouldn't assume it's a foregone conclusion. Of course not. It's jut that if Oklahoma and Wisconsin both win next week, there's no discussion on the playoff teams. You'd get those two plus the SEC and ACC winners.
  19. This is the worst case scenario for OSU. Auburn/Georgia, Miami/Clemson and a 12-1 Oklahoma all get in before them. OSU definitely has better wins than Bama but they were also handled at home to Oklahoma and got annihilated by Iowa, both of which are worse losses than Bama's. It would really get interesting if TCU beats Oklahoma next week as far as how they would sort out OU/TCU/OSU.
  20. They would still need one of Wisconsin or Oklahoma to lose to get in. Auburn/Georgia, Clemson/Miami, 12-1 OU and 13-0 Wisconin all get in before a 11-1 or 12-1 Bama.
  21. Mississippi St's quarterback just got his ankle rolled up on and it was bent the wrong way.
  22. Not impressive: the Raider pass defense. They have no interceptions this year and had the third worst passer rating allowed in the history of the league behind the 0-16 Lions and the 2015 Saints, who turned opposing QBs into Aaron Rodgers (68.4 comp%, 4544 yds, 45 TDs, 9 INT). After Brady's game today, they probably passed the Lions.
  23. The Nathan Peterman experiment went well for Buffalo today. He completed 11 of the 14 passes he threw. Of course, 5 of them were caught by Charger players.
  24. Blaine Gabbert is starting for the Cardinals this weekend. Gabbert played on the 49ers with Kaepernick the last two years and was clearly the worse QB. Gabbert started the first 5 games last year and was bad enough that the Niners benched him for Kaepernick.
  25. 1. Bama 2. Clemson 3. Miami 4. Oklahoma 5. Wisconsin 6. Auburn 7. Georgia 8. Notre Dame 9. OSU 10. Penn St. Notre Dame over OSU is interesting. It would probably take them rolling Stanford and OSU barely beating Wisconsin for them to stay there though. Auburn being at 6 tells me they're absolutely getting in if they beat Bama and Georgia again. Committee is also saying the Pac-12 has no chance of getting a spot and OU is the only Big 12 team that has a chance of making it. The SEC winner, the ACC winner and the Big 10 winner would all be in front of them and if Bama loses a close one to Georgia or Auburn, they're probably in before a 2-loss TCU/Oklahoma St.
