  1. Time to panic. Brewers going to crush this easy schedule they've got coming up with the Marlins, Giants and Padres.
  2. Cards just had bases loaded no outs in the bottom of the 10th against the Marlins and didn't score.
  3. Well you got the first half right. Hope you’re wrong about the second part.
  4. So they either won’t get it in at all or will get all nine innings in. Got it. You’re correct, looks like a total washout. Spot on like always.
  5. Would be nice if they kept it up for the next couple weeks and the Cubs got hot.
  6. So they either won’t get it in at all or will get all nine innings in. Got it.
  7. He looks like complete horsefeathers lately, I’m worried. I wonder if the little extra wear and tear of playing SS is affecting him a little. You can tie it to when he got hurt against Washington. He’s trying to play through it and it’s probably still bothering him. .953 OPS before and a .677 OPS after the injury.
  8. I can give you a handful of days this year where people were more pessimistic. Go look up the game threads from March 31-April 5. The Cubs lost 6 straight games and allowed 8, 11, 8, 6, 9 and 13 runs. They blew five leads in the first three of those games, then got hammered in the last three (the third one was 13-10 but it was 13-5 going into the 8th). I'm sure you were losing your horsefeathers back then, although that's not really much different than most other days over the past year or so for you.
  9. This is an incredibly dumb statement, even for you. it is? when were you less optimistic about the future since he took over? You're going to have to give me a few minutes. I'm going to need to go back and remember my thoughts on the future of the Cubs on each of the 2806 days that Epstein has been in charge.
  10. This is an incredibly dumb statement, even for you.
  11. But it does matter. This whole thing started because I brought up you moaning about the Brewers easy schedule going into the ASB relative to ours. Since then, we’ve played better than them during a stretch where we played 3 more games against a much tougher schedule. So yes, the home games do matter during this discussion about the Cubs’s recent play.
  12. They went 8-6 during that stretch. That might not sound impressive but it’s a pace of 92.5 wins over a full season, which against 4 teams over .500, is pretty good. You want to tread water or a bit better against the good teams and pound the bad teams. What we just did over 14 games was a bit better. They also went 6-3 earlier against the DBacks and Dodgers (though they did go 2-7 to start the year in the first 9 game stretch I mentioned). I’m sure you’ll hand wave off that 6-3 record though as not being that impressive (not long enough? 6 games were at home?).
  13. He wasn’t just talking about the last 7 games. They went 8-6 the past two weeks. the cardinals and rockies are barely above .500 with run differentials that are barely positive. I dont see how a home stand against them is considered a tough stretch Here is the complete list of 13 game stretches where we only play teams over .500 besides this one: That’s the list. We have a 12 game stretch of Mil-StL-Mil-Oak in the second half. You probably think that’s not tough because the Cards are barely .500 and Oakland is only .500. We also had a 9 game stretch of Tex-Atl-Mil and another 9 gamer of Ari-LAD-Ari. Those are the only sets of 3 straight series against .500 or better teams this year (based on current records). So either what we just went through is a tough stretch or there isn’t a tough stretch on the schedule.
  14. FWIW, per Fangraphs projections, our rest of season SOS is .496 to the Brewers’s .502. If you go season to date stats only, we’re at .484 and the Brewers are .512.
  15. That’s fine. But a couple weeks ago, the weekend we got swept by the Cards, 17 Seconds was looking at the Brewers upcoming schedule and panicking because of how easy it was. Since then, while they got to play the Marlins, Giants and Pirates, we actually picked up half a game despite them playing a cake schedule and getting three days off. That doesn’t mean that we’re going to win the division or we’re going to go on a nice run up through the ASB. But the past two weeks have been fine. Not great. But fine.
  16. 2-5 is not satisfactory, I dont give a horsefeathers what the brewers did. they slump and we cant even be average to take advantage of it. the last several weeks have been damaging. He wasn’t just talking about the last 7 games. They went 8-6 the past two weeks.
  17. So top of 9, it's a tie game with two outs and the Padres have a runner on third. The Rockies decide to intentionally walk not one but two players (both with sub-.700 OPS) to load the bases so they can face the pitcher. They then walked the pitcher to force in the go ahead run.
  18. Says the teams combined for 92 runs which is the most in a 4 game series since 1900.
  19. Rockies beating the Padres 9-8 today. Oh, it’s only bottom of the third. The other games in the series ended 9-6, 16-12 and 14-8.
  20. Cards just had the tying run thrown out at home to end the game.
  21. At age 22, only 170 PA’s, cost controlled, small sample size... Yeah, plus .313 .421 1.000 in the last week with only a .182(!!!) BAbip, and .294 .368 .647 with a .333. So he’s been great over the last week? Cool. He’s been nothing special this year with a .284 BABIP. That doesn’t mean he won’t end up being good or great down the line. I’m just saying pump the breaks a bit.
