  1. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds Playoff odds and win total projections are out and they do not like the Central at all. There are 9 other teams with a higher chance to win the WS than our entire division combined.
  2. Hasn't this pretty much been the case for the better part of a decade now? It’s early so I’m sure at least a couple more will get over .500. Usually it’s the 8 seed that’s sub .500 and occasionally the 7 seed. But yes, the West has been consistently better than the East for a couple decades. The 8 seeds had the same record in 16-17 and the East was actually better in 15-16, though that could be the West had a 73 and 67 win team that year while the East had a 10 win team. Prior to that the last time the 8 seed in the East had the better record was 98-99. The East has also had 14 sub .500 playoff teams in the past 20 years while the West has had 1, Portland last year.
  3. Brady was better than Eli but it reminded me of Eli winning Super Bowl MVP when the Giants beat the 16-0 Pats. But they can’t give MVP to a position group.
  4. Only 4 teams in the East are currently over .500 and only 5 are .500 or better. By contrast, only 4 teams in the West are under .500 and 9 are over .500.

  6. That pass to Gronk was catchable by first half standards.
  7. The first one I didn’t mind. The second one was inexplicable. 3rd and 10? Sure. Call it there. But not 3rd and 2.
  8. Don’t these balls have to be catchable for PI to be called? The second one definitely wasn’t.
  9. KC shouldn’t have called the second timeout.
  10. Chiefs can’t do anything right. The only position group that’s been good is the FG kicker.
  11. Only surprising thing about that game was it was only 1-0. Spurs play like a team that’s already gotten a red card and are just trying to limit the damage.
  12. Awfully nice of you to call Spurs a real team. Aren't they on same level as Chelsea with the main difference that Chelsea tries to attack? Depends on what stats you put stock in. Points and GD shows they’re about the same. Expected goals has Chelsea as a topl4 side and Spurs in the 8-10 range.

  14. The Luiz red card yesterday was one of the most absurd reds I’ve seen given. I get that if you follow the letter of the law to a T, it was a denial of a goal scoring opportunity by the last defender who wasn’t making a play on the ball. But he also wasn’t trying to make a play on the ball or the attacker and it was an inadvertent clip. Giving the PK is fine because inadvertent or not, Luiz brought the guy down. But just give him a yellow and be done with it.
  15. It's going to be hilarious when Spurs get 2 goals on 3 shots and beat Man City in the League Cup final and Jose crows about how it's a successful season even though Spurs finish 8th, get dumped out of the Europa in the round of 16 and lose in the 5th round of the FA Cup.
  16. Schilling didn’t get in so it’s a good day.
  17. If you told me a month or 6 weeks ago that Lampard would get fired before either Ole or Arteta I wouldn’t have believed you.
  18. Tampa went 7-9 last year with a QB who threw 30 interceptions. All they needed was a competent QB who could see straight and knew what he was doing. They struggled to beat a 7-9 Wash team with a crap QB and they only beat the Saints because Brees threw 3 picks and can’t throw the ball more than 10 yards own the field. Obviously he was the guy who was available but there’s probably a dozen QBs who could have come in and led Tampa to an 11-5 record and won a playoff round or two. Hopefully the 2020 Bears who went 8-8 can select one of the dozen available QB’s for the 2021 season so they can win a round or 2 next year. I just meant that there are probably a dozen other QBs (if not more) who could come in and do the same thing. He was the only one who was available. I didn’t mean there were a dozen available QBs that Tampa could have picked up to go 11-5.

  20. Yeah, that’s just as bad, if not worse than the punts by the Titans and Steelers in the first round.
  21. You want to have to pay for another subscription service to watch sports plus have to stream it rather than being able to record it? This is terrible. I hate streaming live sports if I don’t have to, especially when it comes to soccer games that frequently air before I wake up. Yes, I will gladly take on multiple additional subscription services for live sports that likely add up to far less than the OTT streaming service I subscribe to almost exclusively for sports. With which you have to deal with internet lags causing choppy picture and occasional interruptions, no DVR availability, an occasional inability to rewind/fast forward (not sure if Peacock has this or not). Sounds wonderful.
  22. AFAIK they just loaded that marathon into a playlist and pressed repeat.' I genuinely hope the sports stuff gets moved to peacock premium, another chink in cable's armor would be a good thing. If it is moved to USA, hopefully that's a temporary measure to satisfy current contracts. 23. But it’s not penalizing the team. They signed him to a contract. They structured it the way they did for a reason. They knew the risks.
  24. Bayern got bounced in the DFB Pokal by a second tier side this week as well.
  25. Harden and Durant combined for 138 points in their first two games together, second most all time. What’s completely unsurprising is that Wilt holds the record at 151 points. It’s with some random dude named York Larese. What’s slightly more surprising, though not much, is that if Larese hadn’t scored at all in the two games, they’d still have the record. Wilt put up 139 in those two games, Larese had the other 12. As usual, there’s Wilt and then there’s everybody else when it comes to scoring records.
