  1. Last couple weeks could be interesting in the race for the top 4. Chelsea plays at City, vs Ars, vs Lei, at Villa but they’ve also got the UCL 2nd leg and the FA Cup final so they play each midweek and weekend the next three weeks. Leicester has vs New, at ManU, at Che, vs Tot plus the FA Cup final. Meanwhile, Liverpool, West Ham and Spurs all have much easier run ins and no extra games outside of the league.
  2. By lollygagging around 2nd. Christ it's not like Castellanos flubbing the ball is some miraculous occurrence. And not getting a good jump when the ball was hit. Good jump means he probably doesn’t even stop going around second.
  3. Lot easier to deal with if you don't watch. Working great for me this year!
  4. lol - oh yeah. that's why not to check on facebook. got it. Explanation for someone who doesn’t go in the Bears threads (I assume that’s where it happened)?
  5. And another twist with Barcelona losing at home to Granada. Barcelona still controls their own destiny but their game against Atletico next weekend is probably a must win. They obviously can’t lose that one now and while a draw wouldn’t be the worst result, they’d no longer control their own destiny. Actually, they don't control any more because if they finish level with RM, they lose the tiebreaker. I expect all teams to drop more points. How the hell do you lose with 82% possession? Well never mind then. I just thought it was off goal differential like the EPL.
  6. Barcelona and Atletico still play as do Sevilla and Real Madrid. France appears to be a good race also. Lille came from 2-0 down on the road to beat 4th place Lyon over the weekend. yes, nice to see a race in France for once. Either Barca or Athletico can win out to win the league though the draw in the head to head now favors Barcelona. RM will be focused on CL And another twist with Barcelona losing at home to Granada. 7. And right on cue, The Athletic has released a report today saying that a 12-team CFP with 4 byes is gaining support. So theoretically a team could end up playing as many games as an NFL team does (in the regular season at least). 12 regular season games, conf title game and potential 4 playoff games if they don’t get a bye. So stupid.
  8. Solid meltdown from PSG. Played pretty well in the 1st had and was up 1-0. Then in the second half they let a FK go through the wall and get a red card a few minutes later. Now they’re down 2-1 at home.

  10. And I’m not even sure which incident you’re referring to! Newcastle goal gets disallowed because a player has arms or West Ham player gets sent off for clearing a ball.
  11. Just like every other sport, the people in charge don't give a horsefeathers about the health of the players.
  12. Meet the Mets Greet the Mets Step right up and sweep the Mets
  13. I seem to remember an instance of Dusty with Cincy leaving a pitcher in to throw a ton of pitches in the first two innings and the guy either got hurt within a couple starts or his performance just plummeted immediately after. That was Harang, right? His career was basically over after that. Found it. You were correct. It was Harang in 2008. Starts on May 22 and throws 103 pitches. May 25 game goes extra innings and Dusty brings him in to throw 63 pitches. ERA was 3.32 after that day. May 29 they start him again and he throws 73 pitches in 4 innings and got roughed up. Rest of the season he had a 5.88 ERA and went on the DL in July. 05 through 07 he had a sub 4 ERA all three years. 08, 09 and 10 he was over 4 with two of the years over 4.75. He was fine in 11, 12 and 14 though with sub-4’s.

  15. If Jose was still the manager he’d definitely claim it just like he was bragging about winning a Treble with ManU when the three trophies were the Europa League, League Cup or Community shield. As for Spurs, never forget the massive 2018 International Champions Cup title!
  16. Steph has made at least 10 3's in four of his last five games. Only one other player has at least four game in their entire career with at least 10 3's made (Klay with 5).
  17. I mean, based on the last few years, it’s Arsenal that is the Laettner of the group. But Phillips is probably an Arsenal fan and didn’t want to insult his own shitty team. Actually, that’s not true. Arsenal is actually Larry Bird. Best years are long in the past, shadow of what they once were, don’t actually help out anymore but people still think they’re important based on name only and not do to any actual ability or usefulness.
  18. why get rid of him right after he led them to qualification for the super league?!??!? I take it back. LONG LIVE THE SUPER LEAGUE!
  19. Javy's going to regret that for the rest of his life.
  20. The downside of not paying attention to the Cubs is missing fun games like Saturday. The upside of not paying attention to the Cubs is not watching the far more frequent games like Sunday.
  21. Yep. I’d be pretty much out on both Spurs and European soccer if this happens. For Spurs, there’s already a slim chance of them winning any major trophy (I don’t count the League Cup, FA Cup probably qualifies). I’m not in the trophies or bust camp anyway but at least the last few years they won more than they lost, we’re regulars in the UCL and had tons of great moments. In this league, they’d be a mid-table side at best with no chance of ever catching those top 7 or so teams. So now they’re not winning anything and at best, winning as often as they lose? I’m out. I get the club would do it for the money but that means jack horsefeathers to me. As for Euro soccer, part of what makes the UCL fun is seeing random matchups between the big teams you don’t get to see every year. But Bayern-Real (or insert whatever big clubs you want) loses a lot of luster to me if they play twice a year. I hate every part of this.
  22. Italy was even close for a while but Inter has pulled away.
