  1. Catcher Rick Asoordian has struck out 4 Jaxx in the 12th and 13th. Negron is on at 2nd, it's up to pitcher Carlos Vasquez to try and knock him in in the 13th. That's right, an everyday hitter is pitching to a relief pitcher. Dang, the catcher gets the best of that AB. Asoordian Ks Vasquez for his 5th strikeout. 6-6 after 13.
  2. I tuned in to the Angels and Dodgers game just as OC stole home of Billingsley. Poor Chad looked so lost.
  3. Iowa lost 6-4. Brendan Harris HRed for New Orleans. WT tied at 6 in the 11th. Boise won 6-3.
  4. What day did you go?
  5. Freshman year (Vanderbilt): 82.1 Sophomore year (USC): 129 IP Junior year (USC): 138 IP He also pitched for Team USA each of those Summers. Good point. I'm guessing Prior threw quite a few pitches based on college pitcher's reputations of pitches/innings thrown. But that's just a generalization. Even then, his soph and junior years at USC and his 2002 season (WT/Iowa/Chicago) were a far lighter load than his 2003 season (and that was with the missed starts after running into Marcus Giles).
  6. Freshman year (Vanderbilt): 82.1 Sophomore year (USC): 129 IP Junior year (USC): 138 IP I'm curious on how many pitches he threw each game. Thanks for coming out with those numbers Raisin. How'd he do against UCLA? No clue, that was before my time at UCLA (I pulled a Prior and transfered after my freshman year). EDIT: His JR year - @ Jackie Robinson: 7 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 12 Ks/1 BB, ND @ USC: 9 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 14 Ks, W
  7. Freshman year (Vanderbilt): 82.1 Sophomore year (USC): 129 IP Junior year (USC): 138 IP Hmm, I never knew that Prior went to Vanderbilt. Do you know why he transferred? He wanted to be closer to home.
  8. Freshman year (Vanderbilt): 82.1 Sophomore year (USC): 129 IP Junior year (USC): 138 IP
  9. Henry and Zidane are a treat to watch.
  10. Yay, France. That last offsides on Portugal was completely unnecessary...wait a second and you still have 1-on-the goalie. Yay France.
  11. That reminds me of the time he wrote an entire article proclaiming how Stephen A. Smith getting his Quite Frankly show was actually a moment of great importance. Damn straight.
  12. 18.2 scoreless innings since getting promoted!
  13. He's the kind of fireworks I'd rather not see....it's the 4th of July everytime he goes to the mound here lately. After his start yesterday, at AA, Brownlie is posting this fantastic line: 2-7, 7.05 ERA, 44.2 IP, 34/18, 1.90 WHIP If you include his 11.2 AAA innings, it gets even worse: 2-10, 7.82 ERA, 56.1 IP, 48/24, 2.04 WHIP
  14. Eithier was part of the trade. Lofton was injured yesterday and removed from the game. I'm not sure how bad it is though. Plus, if they need a new centerfielder for next year this gives them a in with Pierre. Lofton was only signed for this year and I don't know if they want him again due to his age. I think most teams would want Pierre over Cruz Jr. Kemp is more of a corner outfielder? So the outfield would be RF Drew, CF Pierre. and LF Kemp. And Cruz Jr. off the bench. I was at yesterday's game, I'd be shocked if Lofton misses much time over that injury. My main point is Ethier isn't going anywhere for Pierre/Maddux. Thus, the Dodgers will still have an overflow of OFs and won't need Pierre. Kemp will be fine in CF for now, and the Dodgers will probably play him there as long as JD Drew is in RF (eventually, Kemp will have to move to RF - long-term he's a corner OF, for now he can handle CF).
  15. Don't trade them unless we get a really, really, really good offer. These are 2 guys I want on my team in 2007. And to the White Sox and Cardinals, they should be 100% off-limits. Please give us one good, legitimate reason that makes sense to anyone beyond puberty. No, please don't. Let sleeping dogs lie. Yeah, we don't need that in this thread too.
  16. No, it isn't your imagination. Though it isn't by too much, he has been inconsistent since returning to Des Moines the second time. Thanks. I haven't been following the I-Cubs quite as closely this year as I normally do. Tsk tsk.

  18. So then you can have two offensively challenged players on the court at the same time? I realize that Oden isn't as bad as Wallace but he's been built up much more for his defensive ability than offensive. Oden definately needs to put in a ton of work in that part of his game. Not saying that Oden can't play offense and will never be good offensively, but he does need to show a huge improvement to be a star in the NBA. How much have you seen Oden play? The way you are talking, I'm assuming you've scouted him pretty extensively. Yes I have seen Oden play a couple times and have read about him as well. The guy is seven feet tall and should be absolutely dominant at the high school level seeing as he usually posts up just a few feet from the basket and was being guarded by guys 6 inches shorter than him. Again, I'm not saying that he won't be a great NBA player, but annointing him as the next great star in the NBA is foolish. From what I've read in scouting reports, his post moves are lacking - but I think some time at OSU (even with the wrist injury, he should get a few good months) will help him there. Either way, I'd prefer to draft him over Kevin Durant and Joakim Noah.
  19. My recollection is that White Sox fans thought he'd get promoted up a year or two ago, but he had been outspoken about problems in the organization ... or maybe even he just joked about the White Sox not making the playoffs in '04? I'm trying to remember, there was some minor controversy, I'm sure someone else here remembers. Actually, I believe that was Wally Backman?
  20. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (3-6, 3.89 ERA, 85.2 IP, 69/33, 1.30 WHIP) vs.RHP David Gil (2-3, 4.06 ERA) West Tenn: LHP JR Mathes (8-4, 3.14 ERA, 97.1 IP, 70/18, 1.16 WHIP) vs. LHP Tyler Pelland (5-2, 3.27 ERA) Daytona: LHP Carlos Perez (1-4, 4.73 ERA, 59 IP, 44/33, 1.80 WHIP) vs. RHP Salvador Aguilar (3-3, 3.32 ERA) Peoria: RHP Scott Taylor: (3-4, 3.41 ERA, 71.1 IP, 31/12, 1.19 WHIP) vs. LHP Julian Cordero (2-4, 3.43 ERA) Boise: RHP Mike Billek (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 4 IP, 2/0, 1.00 WHIP) In Boise, Billek will tag team with LHP Darin Downs (1-2, 7.71 ERA, 11.2 IP, 10/3, 2 HBP, 1.63 WHIP).
  21. Go USC! :D Boo!
  22. Yeah, Lebron James, too. Congratulations for citing the one inarguably brilliant high school player in the NBA. Need I list all the "can't miss" highschoolers who burnt out? Or the fact that Kobe Bryant was a mid first rounder? You just don't know. And as someone else said, comparing a guard/forward's talent in high school to a seven footer is apples and oranges. Did you intentionally cut out the rest of 1908's post because it proved the first half of your post wrong?
