    Colvin's first 8 ABs: 3 singles. 1 6-3 groundout. 4 Ks.

    West Tenn won 5-4. Mathes gave up 4 ER in 6.1 and got 4 Ks. Atlee got his first save at West Tenn. Daytona won 5-4. Olin Wick hit a HR, his 2nd of the year! Daytona scored 3 in the top of the 9th to come from behind for the win. Berg gave up 2 ER in 5, Mendez got the save. Peoria lost 2-1. Scott Taylor gave up the go-ahead run in the 9th inning. He ended up going 8.1 and giving up 2 ER with 2 Ks and a BB. Boise is down 2-1 after 3. Colvin with an RBI single.

    What is it with Downs? He was in the same draft as Sean Marshall, and he's still pitcing at Boise? :? Well, he was drafted out of HS while Marshall was drafted out of college. I was surprised to see his return to Boise after pitching pretty well last season. All in all, it's disappointing that he's not at Peoria and that he's struggling in his third stint at Boise. I guess the growth plates didn't work out that well. :P

    He came darn close to the QS today (was at 3 ER in 5.2 IP when he gave up the bloop single). Yeah, he did. That was a cheap hit. Unless it's Ichiro swinging the bat, I wouldn't assume anyone who gets such a hit was actually trying to do that. And as a side not, I always thought a QS was 7 IP/3 ER. I looked it up though, and you're right. They should change that. I don't necessarily think a 4.50 ERA is quality. It's ok, but I think my meaning of quality is different. I don't see much point in tracking average/mediocre starts as a stat. Sorry, that was kind of a rant. I agree. I think the QS stat is too arbitrary - you're giving someone who gave up 3 ER in 6 IP the same amount of success as someone who gives up 2 in, say, 7.

    Boise loses 1-0. Pawelek ran into some 2-out trouble in the 7th, giving up a single, a walk and an RBI single before being pulled for Michael Cooper who got out of the jam. Mark's line: 2.2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3/2. Colvin ended up going 1/4 with 2 Ks.
