  1. I think this is a fantastic move by NU and Fitzgerald will be a great coach in a few years.
  2. Double d'oh, according to my spreadsheet, that's who I had starting today.
  3. Holdzkom went 2 IP yesterday; I kinda doubt he'll start today. D'oh.
  4. Here's a nice story on Boise's Russ Canzler. Sad to notice he was taking advice from Jose Macias!
  5. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Ryan O'Malley (4-5, 4.33 ERA, 79 IP, 53/18, 1.34 WHIP) vs. RHP Denny Bautista (1-2, 5.09 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Juan Mateo (5-4, 2.62 ERA, 68.2 IP, 50/20, 1.12 WHIP) vs. RHP Eddie Valdez (5-3, 3.56 ERA) Daytona: RHP Roberto Sotolongo (0-1, 2.40 ERA, 15 IP, 11/2, 0.80 WHIP) Peoria: RHP Matt Weber (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 4 IP, 2/0, 1.75 WHIP) @ RHP Adam Hawes (2-3, 5.05 ERA) Boise: RHP Billy Petrick (2-0, 2.45 ERA, 14.2 IP, 11/4, 4 HBP, 1.16 WHIP) vs. RHP Andrew Kreidermarcher (2-0, 2.20 ERA)
  6. Boise wins it 5-1. Papelbon goes the last 2.1 to get the save.
  7. And how many teams passed on Albert Pujols how many times? The MLB draft, moreso than any other draft, is extremely difficult to get right. Yes, I've been disappointed in the Cubs player development, especially at the offensive end. But Harvey was the consensus choice amongst scouts and others at the time of the pick. Hear, hear! He still might be converted to a pitcher. May!? It's going to happen. I have him getting converted before the 08 season, Outshined says it will happen before next season.
  8. West Tenn ended up winning 13-2. And they did it without a HR. Daytona won 4-3. Boise up 4-1 in the middle of the 8th. Francisco, Clipp and Papelbon have provided strong relief.
  9. I agree that the Cubs overvalue athleticisim and raw tools. Well, the Cubs weren't the only team to consider Harvey a top-5 pick.
  10. And he only had 2 months worth of AA experience.
  11. The Jaxx are now up 8-2 on Chattanooga after 7. Everybody besides Moore and Rojas has a hit. Shaver went 7 and gave up 2 ER (8 Ks to boot). Daytona is up 4-2 after 7. Berg went 5 and just gave up the one run. He had 7 Ks to just 1 BB. Ryan Harvey joined Craig in hitting a HR, his 8th. Phil Norton has pitched a scoreless inning of relief after being promoted from Mesa. Peoria won 6-1. Blackford went 7, K'd 5 and gave up 1 unearned run for the win. Matt Avery struck out the only 4 guys he faced for his 7th save of the season.
  12. Apparently FiberPipe is trying to charge me to watch Samardizja pitch. :x Screw that, I'll watch the UCLA defense batter him up in a few months instead. Anyways, midway through the 5th, Boise leads Tri-City 2-1. Samardzija went 4 and gave up 1 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 1 K and 1 HBP. Ruzz Canzler, Alfred Joseph and DJ "Hollywood" Lewis have gotten hits for Boise so far.

  14. And don't forget about Mark Reed. (Though I think Moore has some major holes in his game of concern.)
  15. The DJaxx are up 2-1 after 3. Chris Shaver singled in the 3rd, Walker followed with a single, Nic Jackson had a 2-out walk and then Brian Dopirak hit an RBI IF single to score Shaver for the Jaxx' 2nd run of the evening. Daytona leads 2-1 midway through the 3rd. Berg just gave up that run here in the 3rd. Daytona scored twice on a Sprowl sac fly and a Craig solo HR. Peoria is up 1-0 after 5. YUSUF wend deep for the 6th time this year.
  16. Hey now, they're making him work more. After 1, he was on pace for a 63-pitch CG. After 2, he was on pace for a 72-pitch CG. Now, he's on pace for a 75-pitch CG. progress After 4, Capuano was on pace for a 99-pitch CG.
  17. Hey now, they're making him work more. After 1, he was on pace for a 63-pitch CG. After 2, he was on pace for a 72-pitch CG. Now, he's on pace for a 75-pitch CG. progress Exactly! At the rate they're improving, Capuano will have to throw 77 pitches for the CG.
  18. Hey now, they're making him work more. After 1, he was on pace for a 63-pitch CG. After 2, he was on pace for a 72-pitch CG. Now, he's on pace for a 75-pitch CG.
  19. Scout out some talent for the Cubs! They need it!
  20. The DJaxx are up 1-0 after 1. Chris Walker tripled and Nic Jackson hit a sac fly. It's scoreless in the middle of the first in Daytona. Berg gave up 3 singles in the inning to load the bases (with one out), but got out of the jam unscathed. After 2, it's scoreless in Peoria. Davey Gregg and Ryne Malone have the Chiefs' 2 singles.
  21. One more biscuit for breakfast, eh? Needs to eat his Wheaties.
  22. I'll step back, but is it possible that the entire thread be deleted considering I started the thread? Not by you, only by a mod. I don't see why it should be deleted. I edited the thread title to note that Stark said it, not Sweet Lou.
