  1. Wow, got to think at least one team here in the 15-20 got at least a #2 starter between Bukauskas, Schmidt, Faedo and Peterson. Guess Tristan Beck is the last college arm I'm super intrigued in.
  2. He's actually been rumored to go to the Cubs with one of their first rounders as a signability pick.
  3. Like in years past, this will be the thread devoted to the actual draft and Cubs picks. I will update this original post with details on actual Cubs picks, player blurbs and signing info. 4. Just read that as well. I think it's a bit much to say his best days could be ahead of him but no doubt I'd felt like he'd been rounding back into formidable form before yesterday's outing. I didn't watch or even get to follow the game but he was pretty solid for the first 4 innings before the wheels fell off. He's been very encouraging over his last 7 or so starts. Apparently he had a cut open up on him in that 5th inning. Hope that was all it was.
  5. When signed, he was thought of as a defensive-first catcher with gold glove potential. He clearly has displayed an elite ability to throw our guys so far.

  8. I don't think Mayo's mock makes sense financially. Allen will probably require a slight overslot and Carlson a sizable one. Callis' mock should allow for savings for the second round but I'd rather take my overslot in the first to ensure the Cubs actually select the guy. Neither Mayo nor Callis have Schmidt in the first.
  9. I like that and I like the idea of getting Schmidt at a slight discount when you think he's a likely top 15 pick.
  10. Rooker seems to be widely considered a second round talent so it does seem like they're sacrificing some talent picking him at 27/30. Isn't Rooker only a 2nd round talent based on age though? It's not a limitation of any of his tools or production. I'm willing to gamble on that. He's also a 1B/LF who likely doesn't have the normal power for those positions.

  12. Last game of instructs: http://www.thecubreporter.com/06112017/emeralds-double-and-triple-azl-cubs-riverview-park Aramis Ademan had a huge game. Eugene starts on Thursday and the AZL Cubs start in a couple of Saturdays.

  14. Apparently it was a monster shot.
  15. I'll be pleased if the Cubs have the lead after this half inning.
  16. Yeah, I said that when he first went down and it appeared to not be serious. Cease is probably shooting for 100 innings this year so missing ~4 starts definitely wasn't too bad.
  17. Cease was strong. [tweet] [/tweet]
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] Raisin, How about another Oregon State SP? Law in his final mock now has on Drew Rasmussen. I liked him a lot before he had TJS his sophomore year. He came back at the end of this year out of OSU's bullpen and was up to 98. It boils down to how confident you are with his health and recovery but I'd rather not take him in the first, though. I also like Jake Thompson out of OSU as a third rounder. The Cubs drafted him out of HS.
  19. Both Stephen Bruno and Taylor Davis ended up pitching in Iowa's game two blowout loss.

  21. I bet Minnesota/Cincinnati/San Diego/Tampa is digging Kyle Wright throwing over 120 stressful pitches in the rain against the best college baseball team in possibly decades.
