  1. Oscar de la Cruz was placed on the 7-day DL. No information on the injury.
  2. And Jose Albertos is starting down in Arizona.
  3. Who specifically are you talking about? Obviously for some players, an uptick in velocity is fleeting but it does happen to many HS kids who do maintain the velocity. It's a natural aspect of a teenager growing and maturing. The other concern is players who are a bit older who have an uptick in velocity and then blow out their arm almost immediately (Rob Whitenack comes to mind).

  6. Per Ben Badler, the Cubs are likely to sign another Mexican IFA. Thank goodness for the Mexican IFA bonus cap loophole, seeing as Serrano is considered one of the best pitchers in next year's class: The Cardinals have jumped to the front of the bidding for Cuban reliever Hector Mendoza.

  8. Spoilered because some might find a mascot flicking off fans NSFW.
  9. [tweet] [/tweet] Hope it's not serious. Apparently he even warmed up.
  10. My concern with Gonzalez would be how much of his hitting ability is his own talent and how much of it is his hitter-friendly home ballpark and conference? (Obvious disclaimer that this regime knows what it's doing, especially when it comes to first round hitters.)

  12. What are some examples of this? Not doubting at all, but it's not something I know off the top and it's a tough thing to search. As far as early picks go, Ian Happ & Pierce Johnson both played a few seasons in the Cape Cod League. Hatch spent some time there in 2014 as well. Bryant, Schwarber and Stinnett too. Benintendi famously did not and the Cubs were very high on him.

  15. horsefeathers that racist POS Strickland. I hope Posey hates him too so he didn't help him out.
  16. Not that it matters at all but if we lose this we will have played 1 game better than the White Sox over the first 50 games Your White Sox obsession is so weird.
  17. I remember Happ and Benintendi worked out at Wrigley their year and Correa and Almora their year.
  18. Super jealous. One of my favorite ballparks and the Cubs are finally playing in San Diego on a weekend for the first time in three years. Get some Lolita's postgame.

  20. Yeah, Burks wouldn't make my top ten either. He'd be in the 11-20 though. It's early, but for right now, my top 10 probably sits at: 1. Jimenez 2. Happ 3. Candelario 4. Cease 5. De La Cruz 6. Clifton 7. Caratini 8. Zagunis 9. Amaya 10. Albertos To be fair, Cubsclapp said "around top of 10." I went through a rough top 15 and landed on Burks at 12.
