  1. Ugh, Tony Abreu seems deserving of the hype he gets on D. Video looks good. Ron, you sound good.
  2. RHP Carlos Marmol (WT: 3-4, 3.65 ERA; Season: 9-5, 3.39 ERA) vs. RHP Justin Orenduff (10-5, 3.20 ERA)
  3. Other potential starters to consider: SS Joe Simokaitis - I think he needs to repeat IF Brandon Taylor 3B Russ Canzler - I'd guess he goes to Boise, though RHP Justin Berg RHP Matt Avery RHP Scott Taylor LHP Todd Blackford
  4. Nice pics, Fred. I love the Pujols shirt - never seen it before; it got a laugh out of my mom and me. CubmanPi wasn't there?
  5. Jaxx lose. :( Up to Marmol tomorrow.
  6. You're kidding. A's fans who hate Giants fans? I didn't know they existed! :o (Ever A's fan I know has at least a bit of Giants fan in them [and vice versa]). I agree, but I know a bunch of Dodger fans that absolutely loath the Giants. But I guess that's a given. Of course. But again, I don't know too many Dodgers fans who really hate Angels fans and vice versa. The most I have noticed is some Dodgers fans are offended that the Angels are now an "LA" team and not "Anaheim." The animosity and intensity of inter-city rivalries like the White Sox-Cubs and Mets-Yankees are pretty foreign in the two big metro areas of California.
  7. Ouch for Atlanta: right as Hampton's contract bumps up, he might be slated for Tommy John surgery.
  8. Well, I hope it remains something not too serious - the Cubs have misdiagnosed/made minor league injuries seem less serious than they were (and you mentioned a few examples of that already). I worry about Billy Petrick in a similar manner, since his labrum injury wasn't considered that serious and they expect him back on the mound by the middle of spring training.
  9. Over the past few years, it hasn't just been Prior with this problem - I've noticed it with Clement, Maddux, Wood and recently with Rusch. It seems like Prior recently has taken the cake with the early inning problems, though.
  10. I hope so. Bring it on, IMB! :) Mind you, most of LA is hyping this game up to be UCLA's second biggest game of the year, especially given the way the offense has succeeded the past two games (against far inferior opponents compared to OU). If UCLA loses this game, I think it's the beginning of the end for Karl Dorrell.
  11. Haha, I'm cool - I could tell diffusion was British over a month ago given the way he spelled certain words. Plus he told everyone he was British a few days ago in a minor league thread.

  13. Liriano :D Heh, that's what I was thinking. Meh, just say no to Torii, especially at his salary and how much it will cost to acquire him.
  14. He was held back at the start of the season because of the finger, which he reaggravated in the AFL. He missed approximately 1-2 weeks at the beginning of the season (he was exepected to miss about a month of the season;made his season debut on 4/16), before starting the year in Daytona. I don't know much about the injury this year. At first, it was announced that he was missing starts because of a strained muscle in the shoulder. Not sure what it is now, but when ITI said he'd be out for the season in late August, they said it wasn't that serious.
  15. Is he even with the Cubs anymore? I remember hearing a little something about him during ST but I don't remember anything after that. You and Raw might be the only people left on his bandwagon. He was in Mesa this past year, rehabbing, before he had another shoulder surgery and was shut down again.
  16. I hope so, now that my computer is fixed! Are you going to Jackson?
  17. RHP Ricky Nolasco (14-3, 2.89 ERA) vs. William Juarez (6-5, 4.59 ERA) Playoffs Stats: Nolasco (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 8 IP) vs. Juarez (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 9 IP)
  18. fleeting moments. fleeting moments.... Given how dominant he was the last 5-6 starts last year makes me think it was more than just a fleeting moment. And then there were 2 months in 2005, after which he hasn't been the same since a near-career-threatening injury. That's not my definition of fleeting.
  19. He had a compression fracture in his pitching elbow. Maybe that had an impact on his pitching. He's certainly not pitching as well as he has in the past (2003). He's also still usually able to make adjustments within a game, but the first inning of games has just killed him recently. I'm willing to consider causes. Whether he gets a pass from you for any reason is obviously up to you. Yeah, now you're just making excuses. If he's not healthy enough to pitch, then he shouldn't pitch. It's been plenty of time since that injury. If he's not over it by now, he never will be. I consider causes too. Want to know what 'causes' Mark to give up runs? Lack of pitch variety. All the rationalization in the world can't manufacture a third pitch out of thin air. so what was his third pitch in 2003??? It was a great pitch. One that is incredibly difficult to hit. They call it the "league-hasn't-adjusted-to-you-yet" ball. Nasty, nasty stuff. I thought he threw a change up before, but maybe I am mistaking. He does. Obviously nowhere near as regularly as his slurve/offspeed pitch; I don't know if he still doesn't trust it like he did back in 2003.

And he somehow got that "league-hasn't-adjusted-to-you-yet" pitch down the stretch last year and prior to the line drive this year. Amazing.
  21. I'm not sure regret is the right word.
  22. I wouldn't if I were you. I thought Eckstein turned his ankle there, thankfully for you guys he just slipped. Sadly the Cubs only chance at coming back was the weather conditions.
