  1. Yes. CUBS are 15-10 when the temperature is 85 degree or above It's because of all those dark-skinned minorities on the team. ;)
  2. I have Angel going last Wednesday and Pina going last Thursday, which would be the proper 4-days rest (this based on the 8/10 and 8/11 game threads). Also, Guzman went after Pawelek last time and Mark was Mesa's last starter. Thanks, Nathan! I'll edit that in.
  3. I missed this because I was out of town, but kudos to DJAXX! Great job! :)
  4. Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (3-1, 4.53 ERA) @ RHP Ryan Jensen (1-7, 6.00 ERA) Peoria: RHP Jesse Estrda (6-9, 5.15 ERA) @ RHP Ross Ohlendorf (8-9, 4.88 ERA) Boise: RHP Mitch Atkins (1-5, 5.59 ERA) @ Sergio Romo (5-0, 1.58 ERA) Mesa: RHP Angel Guzman (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 IP) I hope I got the Mesa starter right.
  5. What team do you see winning 90?? This group of wildcard contenders don't look too strong. Anyone know what's the lowest win total to take the wildcard?? I don't know.. but in 2003 we took the division with only 87... :) 88.
  6. He has the stuff to be a good starter (better than Jerome Williams). Just because he hasn't started in the big leagues doesn't mean he can't in the future, in fact I (and others like raw and UK) would like to see him start in the big leagues. Even if his role in the big leagues will be as a reliever, as a minor league starter, he'll get more innings under his belt and more practice. He's been starting all year at AAA and been doing a good job too: 3.02 ERA, .235 BAA, 48 K but 25 BB in 53.2 IP. i'm also a fan of welly as a starter. the i-cubs website has hill as the starter tomorrow. So they do. Oddly enough, earlier today, they had Welly as tomorrow's scheduled starter. That's cause Welly just got recalled to replace Koronka. Yay!
  7. Dusty was hoping Corey would get hit in the head by a Burger King pitch?
  8. Argh, I have to go to my softball game now. The Cubs better be winning (by a lot) when i get back. Nice K!

  10. And avoid the injuries that have plagued him since his days at USC.
  11. Ryu just hit 89 mph, which sounds in line with his other radar readings this year, so maybe the Jacksonville radar is just screwy. Gah, now it's 5-2 Jacksonville following a 2-RBI triple. And JKR's night is done. JKR gave up 5 in 4.2 IP.

  13. Uhh, Ryu just hit 95 on the radar gun in Jacksonville. But, WT is down 3-2 and JKR is still in a jam with one out in the 4th. Jae-Kuk gets out of the jam. The rains are coming, so the Jaxx might only have the next three outs to get some runs before a rain delay/the game becoming official.
  14. But that assumes all the credit to back-to-back winning seasons is given to Dusty. If that's the case, one should give him the blame for the choke the last week of the season, making last year a bad year too. Raw, I've never heard of Dusty as a disciplinarian. Certainly a player's manager and a motivator, but never a disiplinarian.
  15. Pedro gets the loss, Marlon Anderson was gunned out at home with one out in the ninth after a check swing IF grounder. Antonio Perez made a nice throw and Dioner Navarro made a nice block of home.
  16. I take full blame for jinxing Pedro by starting this thread.
  17. Thanks for doing that for me, burnt. The Jaxx lead the game 2-1 in the middle of the third.
  18. And there goes the shutout, the 1-hitter and possibly the W. Werth hits a 2-run shot.
  19. Antonio Perez triples to deep CF off the wall. I think Carlos Beltran would have gotten it. 7.1 no-hit innings for Pedro.
  20. He had an easy 1-2-3 7th (though Miguel Cairo and Marlon Anderson nearly collided over a flyball) and the no-no is still intact.
