  1. I didn't say the fans were pathetic. I said their actions were pathetic (though I might not have chosen my words correctly, a better word for booing Theriot might have been disappointing). I don't think highly of booing a player for failing to succeed in his first big league PA, even if it was late in a game with RISP. Yes, fans do boo; I didn't say it was a shock that fans boo bad performances - it isn't. But, I don't think Theriot's AB, especially considering the situation, was a bad performance worthy of booing. This wasn't Corey Patterson striking out on three consecutive pitches out of the zone. And apparently I'm not the only one in this thread who thought that Theriot's AB was not boo-worthy. Again, I didn't say Wrigley fans were pathetic.
  2. Apparently those stats for Pinto are AA and AAA combined. At West Tenn this year, he's 10-3 with a 2.78 ERA.
  3. Depending on your definition of "far better," I think you'll find quite a few rating Jackson as a far better prospect. In its midseason top-25 prospect list, Baseball America rated Connor #20 (Felix Pie was #17 and Carlos Quentin was #19). I would expect a gap between Jackson and Murton to be sizable (say a difference of 50 players), based on how their top-25 broke down. And I wouldn't disagree with BA on that.
  4. Eh, you'll get to listen to at least one more Jaxx game (and it'll be the guy in your sig pitching that one!), this will be your last Cubs game till 2006! Have fun.
  5. AD better play, it's no big deal if the Bruins beat Oklahoma without him. Of course he's going to beat up on our front 4, hopefully they can handle Peterson. The linebackers are the strength of the defense.
  6. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/342892.jpg Keisler has to be on drugs in that pic, right?
  7. You didn't watch the game, did you? Maybe you should read the comments from people who did or who were there. I read the comments. My cousin was there and said that many were booing him. I read the comments, too. My friend was there and said that many were booing the call. Perhaps he wasn't sitting next to your cousin. The attitude here is split among those who think people who go to games should riot and those who think that anyone who voices displeasure is an idiot. Well, I think my opinion on booing the home team is well known, but whatever one's opinion is, I think booing a player in his big league debut after such an AB isn't kosher. EDIT: My cousin just confirmed that those around her were booing Ryan, not the call.
  8. You didn't watch the game, did you? Maybe you should read the comments from people who did or who were there. I read the comments. My cousin was there and said that many were booing him.
  9. I can't believe Wrigley fans were booing Theriot after that AB. Pathetic.
  10. LHP Renyel Pinto (11-5, 3.78 ERA) @ RHP Eric Hull (7-8, 3.67 ERA)
  11. Jaxx win Game 1 and get to throw Pinto/Nolasco/Marmol over the next 3! Hopefully this isn't shades of "the Cubs just need to win one more and have Prior and Wood back-to-back!" :? WTG, Jaxx. And hopefully I'll be watching the video broadcast (and listening to Ron!) tomorrow.
  12. Well, I'm out of here for the night (err, the sun is still up here, but you get what I mean). I hope I get back to see the Jaxx held on!
  13. For those of us who don't get CSN, can someone give a quote? Thanks!
  14. By the way, I heard Ron say Ryu hit 90 mph last inning. Any other velocity reports earlier in the game (I just got in about 5 minutes ago)?
  15. Haha, nice to see Billingsley get roughed up. :D Control has been his biggest problem this season, and it's good to see the Jaxx exploit it. I don't see how Eric Patterson doesn't start next year at AA after his performance thus far here.
  16. Maybe in the short term, but in the long-term, both Felix Pie and Ryan Harvey---IMO---will be better then Quentin. Conor Jackson on the other hand..... Quentin hit .300/.420/.550 in AAA, Neither Pie or Harvey have approached those numbers at any level. Quentin and Jackson are basically the same player. Same age, but Quentin plays OF while Jackson is a first baseman. Quentin also has more HR power, at least for now. As much as I love Quentin, Connor Jackson has the advantage in plate discipline/strike zone judgement (and Carlos Quentin's strike zone judgement is pretty good). I think the Diamondbacks prefer Connor to Carlos, so they definitely think his HR power will come.
  17. Which boss? Rothschild was brought in pre-Dusty. I don't know that there is any particularly strong relationship between the two. Dusty's guy is Pole, who could easily slide into the pitching coach's job. Further, I don't know how much Rothschild is enjoying himself. I could see him searching for greener pastures. Perhaps we can send him a Pepperidge Farms Meat and Cheese basket with our fondest regards and best wishes for better employment next year. While I am no Rothschild fan these days, I think Dick Pole would be worse as pitching coach.
  18. I think it was Raisin and Raw who took me to task on Mitre much earlier in the season. They made good points. I've just never seen enough to get excited. Of course, I also carried the Bobby Brownlie banner until he gutted me with its flag pole. Heh, I think it was both of us. Mitre is what he his. At his best, he's a 4-5 starter, he's obviously ineffective when his sinker isn't working. I also think it's ridiculously stupid to use a pitcher like Mitre out of the pen, that's just asking him to fail. I completely agree with Rocket, especially with guys like Rich Hill coming up a bit later. Sergio's trade value was never higher. I think the Cubs will be trading him or Wellemeyer this offseason since they both have to make the 25-man next April or risk being lost.
  19. Do you guys think it's a good move when the Rays don't call either up next year? Now that's stupid (or "unconscionable" as Jim Callis said):
  20. But they noted Jacksonville going back to Billingsley, their game 1 starter in the last series. I guess the Jaxx are as confident in Ryu as Pinto. I don't like the decision, seeing as Pinto had a much better season.
  21. Granted only the Padres are currently above .500, but still...go us! :D
  22. BA named Delmon Young the Minor League POY. Brandon Wood was robbed. :( BA had a chat in relation to that, and there was one very interesting Cubs-related question:
  23. RHP Jae-kuk Ryu (11-8, 3.34 ERA) vs. RHP Chad Billingsley (13-6, 3.51 ERA) Billingsley threw 7 no-hit innings in his last playoff start (a combined no-hitter with Jonathan Broxton against Birmingham). Billingsley throws a 94-97 mph FB, a hard curve, a plus slider and an average changeup; he's the Dodgers top pitching prospect.
