  1. You fail to take into account that a close loss for ND is just as good as a win for them.
  2. So does my fantasy team.
  3. I would love Saenz and Sweeney, but both of them ended up starting a lot this season and might be looking for starting jobs instead.
  4. Thank you. I'm still in shock. I've had my heart ripped out of my chest so many times. I can't believe the Astros are playing in the Series. The World Series! I was 12 in 1986 and I've grown up with heart break. I guess eveything will feel a little more real Saturday. I have to admit, I haven't watched the Sox this year. I know most of the players from years past but I haven't seen them play as a team. On paper, it looks like a great matchup. Question. Is their rotation really that good? Everybody on ESPN picked their rotation over Oswalt, Clemens and Pettitte. That's a bold statement. I wouldn't have picked their rotation - especially if Buehrle or Garcia have to pitch with those Crawford boxes around. The reason most have probably picked the White Sox' rotation is their #4 is better than Backe, but the Astros first 3 are better than the White Sox first 3.
  5. My choices in order... Hershiser Dierker McLaren Gonzalez. No, Baker was not high on my list at the time of the hire. McLaren?
  6. Licey.com has Pie going 1-3 with a strikeout in the first, a strikeout in the third, a single to leadoff the 6th but tagged out at second, and a sac bunt in the 8th. The box credits him with a stolen base, as well, but that looks to be a mistake. Also, Marmol pitched for Licey and threw 1/3 of the inning at the end to get the only man he faced. Valdes pitched for Azucareros. What...more research than just checking my Minor League Boxes e-mails? Boo.
  7. To be fair, the metro LA population doesn't count the Inland Empire (Ontario, Riverside, San Bernardino). Counting them would give the LA-Riverside-Anaheim metro 17.5 million people, which obviously is still less than NYC.
  8. Venezuelan Winter League: Hank White, Leones del Caracas These are the stats (PDF format: http://www.lvbp.com/estadisticas/batr0506.pdf ) for all guys in the league, hopefully this will be updated throughout the season: For now, Adam Greenberg is posting a .263/.333/.368 line in 19 ABs. Henry Blanco is at .176/.176/.222 in 17 ABs. Mexican Pacific League: Chris Walker and Ismael Salas are playing for Algodoneros de Guasave. These stats will hopefully update over the course of the season. Salas is currently posting a .050/.050/.095 line in 20 ABs (while playing 3B). Walker is currently posting a .296/.296/.407 line in 27 ABs.
  9. Kevin Goldstein's daily e-mail reports (he also gives Chris Walker's stats in the Mexican Pacific League). So far, daily stats on the Venezuelan league have been coming slow. I'm searching the net...
  10. Dominican Winter League yesterday: LHP Raul Valdes: 6 IP, 0 R, 7 H, 4/1 No Felix.
  11. You should have told him your name is Nick.
  12. If I were STL, I'd look into Howry and Giles (see if you can trade for Vernon Wells, Austin Kearns, etc.). I'd look for a medium-tier FA starting pitcher (Paul Byrd) just in case Anthony Reyes gets hurt again. And I'd trade Jason Marquis. EDIT: The Cards probably need a LOOGY with Ray King sucking and demanding a trade.
  13. It was from last winter, I've seen that pic around the Internet this year.
  14. Astros in 6. I had the WS being Astros in 6 over Angels, just have to change the Angels to Sox - the end result will be the same.
  15. I know Joel Guzman - the Dodgers top position prospect - is down there. He's playing 3B for the winter. AND I GET ESPN DEPORTEST AT WORK! But I work in the evenings. :(
  16. Spiderman because everytime I read the thread title, I read "Bartman," not "Batman."
  17. Haha, awesome.
  18. Back-to-back NL WC champs! Got to get that banner up...
  19. I wasn't going to either way. Anything that involves the White Sox is bad television. Even the Sox losing? That's the problem. They got hot at the absolute perfect time, so they're not going to. The Astros are hot now too... Plus you can't go wrong predicting a Wild Card team winning the Series. ;)
  20. Astros in 6. Sox in 6. Think they'll win at least three games that one of Oswalt, Pettite or Clemens will start?
  21. Congrats Jimy is a misspell and Mike Scott. Now go out there and obliterate the Sox, plz.
