  1. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Ryan O'Malley (1-1, 5.14 ERA, 14 IP, 11/1) vs. RHP Miguel Asencio (1-2, 5.31 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Juan Mateo (1-2, 2.87 ERA, 31.1 IP, 21/14) @ RHP Ryan Basner (0-2, 6.95 ERA) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (1-2, 4.55 ERA, 29.2 IP, 29/15) @ RHP Kevin Slowey (1-1, 1.53) Peoria: LHP Jesus Yepez (1-1, 2.42 ERA, 26 IP, 13/15) @ RHP Steve Delabar (0-2, 4.32 ERA)
  2. It sounded like he was using his changeup more frequently tonight and got at least one K with it. The three doubles are the most XBH he's allowed in a game so far this season. His BAA is up to .276, 42 hits allowed, 35 singles / 6 doubles / 1HR. ERA 1.96 / WHIP 1.23 / FO-GO 17-51 / K-BB 43-9. :( The good relay throw in the 9th was Weston - Simokaitis - Rick (I thought it was Fuld). Actually, he got at least 2 with the change.
  3. Hill apparently has an 11-5 and a 12-6 curve. Apparently!? You should be demoted from starting the minor league threads. :P
  4. Not enough second baseman on the big league team.
  5. Jake Fox with a solo HR to make it 5-2 Daytona. It's his 10th of the season, tying his HR total for 2005. By the way, Fox was robbed of a HR yesterday (he also hit one yesterday).
  6. Top 6th: - Finningan is the new Lakeland pitcher. - Weston bloops a single to RF. - Fox lines a single to LF, Weston takes second. - Craig singles to RF, Weston scores. The game is tied at 2. - Rick walks on a full count to load the bases. - Simokaitis bloops a single to LF, Fox scores. Daytona leads 3-2. - Spears grounds into the FC, 4-6-3. Spears beats the throw to first. Craig scores, Daytona now leads 4-2. 1 out. - Spears steals second, but comes off the base and is tagged out. 2 outs. - Fuld walks on a full count. - Fuld steals second base. - Spearman lines out to third base. Gallagher's 6th: - Ramirez lines a single to RF. - Mendez strikes out. 1 out. - Robinson weakly grounds into a FC, 6-3. Ramirez advances to second. 2 outs. - McIntyre flies out to RF. Daytona leads Lakeland 4-2 after 6 innings. Gallagher: 6 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 6/1 I'd have to assume Gallagher's night is done. If so, he recovered well from a tough start and pitched well despite not having his best stuff and control.
  7. In the 2nd inning, Iowa and Colorado Springs are scoreless. West Tenn is up 1-0 in the second on a Nic Jackson double and a Luis Montanez RBI single. Peoria down 6-0 in the 8th inning.
  8. Top 5th: - Rick was HBP or walked on a full count (the announcers couldn't tell if the pitch hit Rick or not). - Simokaitis grounds into a FC, 3-6, on a great play by Lakeland's first baseman. 1 out. - Spears walks, Simokaitis to second. - Fuld singles to RF, Simokaitis scores, Spears advances to second. Daytona now down 2-1. - Spearman flies out to LF, runners hold. 2 outs. - Harvey flies out to CF. Gallagher's 5th: - Mejia grounds out 6-3, Simokaitis displayed great range to get that grounder. 1 out. - Thomas strikes out swinging on a change in the dirt, 2 outs. - Frazier lines a singler to RCF. - Larish flies out to LF. After 5, Lakeland leads it 2-1. Gallagher: 5 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 5/1
  9. Top 4th: - Weston strikes out swinging on a 1-2 count. - Fox grounds out, 1-3, barely making contact on a pitch he was ducking away from. - Craig pops out to second base on a full count. In the middle of the 4th, Lakeland leads 2-0. Gallagher's 4th: - Ramirez strikes out swinging on 3 pitches, the third being a FB up in the zone, 1 outs. - Mendez pops out to Simokaitis on a full count, 2 outs. - Robinson walks on 5 pitches. - McIntyre singles to RCF, Robinson advances to third. - Dlugach strikes out. Gallagher: 4 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 4/1
  10. Top 3rd: - Spears strikes out looking on a 2-2 count. - Fuld grounds an IF single to second base. That's the first Daytona hit of the game. - Fuld steals second with ease. - Fuld advances to third on an errant pickoff to second base, E-1. - Spearman strikes out looking on a full count. - Harvey flies out to deep RF, stranding Fuld at third. Gallagher's 3rd inning: - Mejia strikes out looking on 3 pitches, the third being a beautiful changeup. - Thomas grounds a double down the 3B line. - Frazier grounds out, 6-3. Thomas holds at second. - Larish flies out to LF. After 3, Lakeland leads Daytona 2-0. Gallagher: 3 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2/0
  11. Jake Fox gets a leadoff walk on 4 pitches (they were definitely pitching around him), but Kown then recovers and gets the next 3 outs with ease. In the middle of the second, Daytona is down 1-0. Gallagher's second inning: -Leadoff IF single -Stolen base on a 3-1 count (bad throw from Rick) -Ground out to the right side of the IF, runner advances to third. 1 out. -RBI single up the middle. 2-0, Lakeland. -On a busted hit and run, the runner at first is caught in a rundown and finally tagged out. -On a 3-2 count, Simokaitis robs a groundball single and throws out the baserunner, 6-3. Lakeland leads 2-0 after 2 innings. Gallagher: 2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1/0
  12. Gallagher off to a rocky start in the first inning. After getting the first out, Sean gave up back-to-back doubles for a run. He then recovers with a K and a groundout, 1-3 Lakeland leads 1-0 after 1 inning. Gallagher: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1/0
  13. I didn't mind Mueller, if he hadn't gotten hurt the Cubs probably would have resigned him. Instead he went to Boston and won a batting title. And a World Series That's great and all, but imagine the Cubs offense with Mueller instead of Ramirez. Lee would be the only power hitter.
  14. I want Dusty, Hendry and MacPhail gone. Hopefully 1 out of 3 is a start, but I don't expect the Cubs will replace Dusty with anyone I'd want.
  15. Probable Pitching Matchups: Iowa: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (1-3, 3.60 ERA, 35 IP, 30/14) vs. RHP Mike Esposito (2-2, 4.78 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Chris Shaver (2-1, 2.05 ERA, 22 IP, 23/7) @ LHP Chris Waters (2-1, 3.18 ERA) Daytona: RHP Sean Gallagher (2-0, 1.78 ERA, 35.1 IP, 37/8) @ RHP Andrew Kown (2-0, 0.45 ERA, 20 IP at low and high-A) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (2-0, 5.10 ERA, 30 IP, 16/12) @ RHP Joel Santo (1-2, 9.00 ERA)
  16. Around what round will Kapteyn get selected? In 2007, I want Robert Stock. He was throwing at 90 mph at age 15 - has your boy from Sandberg beat. :)
  17. his defense is not good. then he's dead to me. What about Bynum?
  18. You really have your priorities out of whack!
  19. Iowa: RHP Jerome Williams (0-1, 3.75 ERA, 12 IP, 4/4) @ RHP John Webb 0-3, 4.96 West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (2-1, 2.59 ERA, 31.1 IP, 34/13) @ RHP Sean White (1-2 4.20) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (0-3, 4.75 ERA, 30.1 IP, 31/12) Peoria: LHP Donnie Veal (2-2, 2.64 ERA, 30.2 IP, 35/20) @ RHP Grant Varnell (1-2, 2.60)
  20. I agree. That's what one of the comments mentioned, and Sickels admitted that it was a very valid point. Thanks for the link, CFICT.
  21. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Raul Valdes (1-2, 7.36 ERA, 22 IP, 11/8) @ RHP Anthony Reyes (1-0, 3.73 ERA) West Tenn: LHP JR Mathes (2-2, 5.40 ERA, 25 IP, 15/2) vs. RHP Daniel Curtis (1-2, 5.40 ERA) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (0-3, 4.75 ERA, 30.1 IP, 31/12) Peoria: RHP Kerry Wood (rehab) vs. RHP Billy Carnline (3-0, 0.32 ERA) - game thread (Premium)
