  1. Damn that article really made me miss him. Then it got to the part where it said he was 27 years old. Woah, time flies when he's on the DL I guess. I still had the feeling that we let this super young guy that we let go. Hes only three years away from "being on the wrong side of 30". I'm going to miss him. As much as it would hurt to see him do well somewhere else I really want to see him succeed. After 2003 who didn't think/hope/wish he'd be a Cubbie for life? I just hope that in 2018 we don't sign a broken down 3 tome Cy Young winner, Mark Prior. I feel like I need to change my username. Wrigley Field because that might change, and 22 because I like Hart, but he's no Prior :(.
  2. This is what I said a couple pages back, and no one really responded with agreement or disagreement. I agree 100%. Give me Corporate field that looks exactly like Wrigley now over Wrigley Field with corporate signs all over.
  3. Petrick is on the 40 man roster, so for him to be sent back to the minor leagues he has to use up one of his options. The rest are non-roster invitees, so they can just get assigned back to the minor league camp. OK, but why does he have to actually go to Iowa right now? Why can't he use an option and just go to minor league camp in sunny, warm AZ??? he doesn't go to Iowa, he stays in AZ at the MiL camp did we change trp AAA affiliates? I thought it was Pittsburg? That joke was SWEET in 2003. LOL Prior throws towels! Krispy Kreme Hendry! yea...
  4. Well, since I go to school in St. Louis I guess I'm not gonna find the code in my college newspaper. Come on Chicago are college students. Help out NSBB.
  5. Actually maybe a good alternative to BPA is BPAAPON... Best Player Available at Postion of Need, I know not as catchy. Bears need: WR, OT, QB, RB, S So if your top 3 at your pick is LB, DE, WR, I think you should take the WR, even if he's third best. Then going more complicated, it might be LB, OT, DB, DE, WR. And while the OT is better perhaps you think the WR, even though only 5th best is your only option at a good WR, you go for it. And so on and so forth.
  6. What is the rundown of all our picks this year? We have an extra third rounder don't we? I'd like to see something along the lines of: 1- OT/WR 2- WR/OT 3- S/QB 3- QB/S 4- OG/C 5-7- BPA As far as RB, hopefully we can find a guy off the FA bargain bin, maybe someone who is an injury risk or is a cap casualty from another team. Then you just let him, Benson, and Peterson duke it out and compete. I'd really only want to draft a RB after round 1 if someone falls.
  7. Marty Booker coming back to the Bears. How could I ever contain my excitement?
  8. The Bears are gonna need to take some big chances on positions if they want the offense to be good enough to sneak into the playoffs. If I was filling out the depth chart LT- G-Garza, Beekman, Metcalf C-Kruetz Rt-Tait WR1- WR2-Hester/Bradley/Davis RB1- RB2-Benson/Peterson QB-Grossman/Orton TE-Olsen/Clark So we have holes at LT, #1 WR, and #1 RB. Now since we have a lot of money tied up with Benson at RB and its probably the easiest spot to find a diamond in the rough, I'll just assume they bring in a late round draft pick or salary cap cut casualty to compete. Guard could also use some more competition, but that can probably be filled with day two of the draft. We'll need to go LT and WR rounds one and two. I also think we need a safety on day one too. But It would also be nice to get a project QB around round 3/4. There is no doubt that our offense will be below average. But if we can take a bunch of top picks this year and round out our holes with some patch work of outcasts from other teams, we can sneak back into the playoffs with our defense and special teams. Then we'll have another go around at improving our offense in 09. A free agent WR would have been nice, but that doesn't look like it will happen.
  9. I'd rather have Sears Field without the significant signage than Wrigley Field with Sears signs all over the place.
  10. Heh, I just got an ESPN text saying the Cubs signed these two. Get your facts straight ESPN!
  11. I mean I could see it being lame if I had a bunch of Wrigley Field shirts and no Cubs shirts, but I have one Wrigley shirts and a couple Cubs shirts. Nothing wrong with loving Wrigley Field.
  12. This is hard and I can't decide. Theres 3-5 starting pitchers (depending on era), why do we only get to choose one?
  13. I think unethical is a little strong, but maybe underhanded would fit. Zell will squeeze every last penny out of the Cubs and Wrigley Field with no regard for the future of the team since he has no stake in it. Has anyone considered how the Cubs use the Wrigley Field name to sell merchandise? I would be interested to see the estimated income brought in by using the Wrigley Field name, as opposed to how much the Cubs could get by selling naming rights. Thats a good point. I know I have a "Wrigley Field" Shirt as well as my Cub's shirts.
  14. Don't worry, I can only think of two that would be a bit like that, off towards the north. What Derwood posted would be pretty close to wha you would see. Yea, alright, after seeing that, I could be game for it. Looking at a map of the area, I'm guessing you're thinking somewhere by Division? Oh and you need at least one moderately sized rooftop right across the street in case anyone wants to challenge Glen Allen Hill's imfamous hit.
  15. Just build it there with the bleachers up against the skyline. It would look amazing. Something about Wrigley bleachers and skyscrapers skyline doesn't seem to sit right with me. I'd have to see it to be sure though. If its apartments and condos, depending on the look of them (are they really tall, made of brick/stone or steel) I could totally go for it. If they built it on the Cabrini location with the bleachers backed up against the skyline, there wouldn't really be anything visible or in the way. Hmmm well I'm not that familiar with the area. I think I know what you mean though. I mean, obviously there will be skyscrapers right there in the distance and be visible, but in the close vicinity, the first couple blocks, you don't want Wrigley to be hidden inbetween high rises, you know what I mean?

  17. Not gonna lie, I didn't even realize Cabrini "wasn't ghetto" anymore. Thats all I associated it with. Thats good to hear. I'm not torn to Wrigleyville specifically, but I have to say that the view from the outfield is going to be important. I want homes or something, not empty lots or a humungous buildings. If they can accomplish that "neighborhood feel" somewhere else, I'm not tied to what is specifically Wrigleyville now.
  18. Dear Wrigley Gum, I will never buy any other company's gum in my life, if you step in, save the day and buy Wrigley Field's naming rights. You will have one loyal customer. Sincerly, Random Internet Cubs Fan
  19. I think its a beautiful design and creative as heck. As long as it actually works, it should be awesome. And I also like that they limited the number of seats. I'd rather have a small stadium tightly packed than a huge stadium that has fans scattered all around.
  20. 15ppg and not much else. Plus Gordon isn't going to walk for nothing. I'd take my chances that we can get back something better than Smith in a Gordon sign and trade. You're romantisizing what Smith brings to the table. He'd be fine in a Jannero Pargo role. And hey if Gordon does walk and we want Smith we could probably offer a contract barely over the minimum and get him. Yay.
  21. Well if you really want to break it down it comes out to more like: JR Smith for Adrian Griffin (since we waived Eisley's non guaranteed deal, we signed Griffin), Aaron Gray, and JamesOn Curry Okay so Adrian Griffin isn't exciting. And JamesOn Curry may never amount to anything. But I'll take Gray over Smith. Supposedly the Nuggets have tried to move Smith and found no takers.
  22. Perhaps a baseball analogy would do well here: Wallace's situation on the Bulls was like Cliff Floyd taking away playing time from Murton. He had to be moved if for nothing else than to force the manager into playing the younger player. It didn't have anything to do with money. As long as Hughes does not come in and take time from Thabo, this was a very good move. And for the record, Hughes can steal Duhon's minutes for all I care.
  23. I don't mind the walking bear too much, but it'd be better as just an arm patch. The Cubs circle logo should be the main logo if they go to a blue. Also I like the Cuba script, and maybe with Castro stepping down.... haha jk
  24. Just for the record, I wasn't in favor or not in favor of any of those I posted, they were mostly just examples or a result of someone asking "I wonder what such and such would look like" My favorite out of those though is just the grays with some blue piping added.
