    you're missing the point No I understand the point that Christmas doesn't have to be religious but you are the missing the point that you don't have to celebrate Christmas. I have found memories from childhood and none of them involve Christmas. I know I had a good childhood and never resented or was upset that I didn't get to celebrate Christmas. The idea that Christmas is a must and any kid who doesn't celebrate it must be deprived is beyond idiotic. That's extreme ignorance of other traditions, religions and cultures. It's this type of thinking that leads to wars. You think people can't live without what you believe they need and eventually try to force it on people and they resist. Wake up realize there is more than one way to think about Christmas and that millions in this country alone grow up without it and turn out just fine. Christmas causes wars?

    IF it is true Theriot is involved, perhaps the Cubs want to wait until FA Friday in which they will attempt to lock up a SS right away (Furcal), so they can give away Theriot with more confidence. That would be a sexy conference (Peavy and Furcal). /hopeful random baseless speculation from no where

    Yea, I really don't get this resign Dempster idea if we get Peavy, unless he is willing to give the Cubs a significant hometown deal (in years and value).

    Yeah, i'd rather put Pie in center and let him start also. But, just curious, who is that "power hitting right fielder that we should and could get? I haven't gotten that far yet. Presumably though it is a trade, in which case Pie will likely be a part of it. We're kind of stuck with Fukudome at his deal.

    Find a power hitting RF Fuku to CF with Reed. Dump Marquis' salary. Lock up Wood (3 years) and Dempster (4-5 years) on "hometown discount" deals.     No that would be stupid because it would make us a worse baseball team. Anything Lou wants to say beforehand though won't change our talent though. The 0.05% chance it psychs out the Dodger's though is an interesting idea worth discussing.

    We have the series to lose no matter what we do. Whether you decide you are going to approach the game the same you approached the other two, or you decide you are going to play mind tricks on the other team, or play mind tricks on your own guys, or try to fire your own guys up, or rub your stomach and pat your head. No matter what you do the series is on the line.

    Or the Dodgers will continue to clean the Cubs' clock. There would be a run to the bat rack. Harden deserves this start and not to give it to him is a fireable offense. I wasn't agreeing with the not starting Harden stuff, just throwing some stuff out that you know the media will eat up. Kind of "reverse bulletin board material." Not a real large chance it makes any difference, but its an interesting idea that could be worth a shot (I mean what do you have to lose).

    The premise of Lou conceding the series is an interesting one. Could play mind tricks on LA a bit. Tell them how great they are, etc, maybe you catch them looking past us and believing it.
