Quick question. Assuming we sign Furcal right away, what pick are we giving up in the draft? Did we finish bottom 15 or not? It wouldn't really matter either way, but it'd be better losing a second than a first rounder. -
The worst possible lineup Hendry could put out there without gutting the team: SS- Perez CF- Patterson 1B- Lee 3B- Ramirez RF- Encarnacion C- Barrett LF- Murton 2B- Cedeno At the very least, I see Furcal coming our way and a stop gap like Lofton for CF, but with some potential for a bigger bat in RF and even CF. Personally I wont be happy unless all of RF,CF, and SS are uprgaded. SS- Furcal CF- Lofton?Pierre?etc 1B- Lee 3B- Ramirez RF- Encarnacion? shoot higher Abreu/Giles? C- Barrett LF- Murton 2B- Cedeno

My friend who went down there apparently talked to some of the workers who said they would try to reuse as many of the bricks as they could. I think I heard the same thing when they put in the seats behind home plate.

Not a bad idea if we can get a Giles type in RF. The only question would be how much will Wilson demand. If we get Furcal and someone like Giles, and upgrade the bullpen we won't have a lot of money left. But if we get rid of Corey I suppose the difference in their salaries wouldn't be much.

I would sure hope we haven't lost the oppurtunity to keep him. I think he can be and excellent 4th OF/1B/PH as soon as the end of next season. I would be extremely dissappionted if they let him get away. -

I agree that Ozzie's handling of the pitching staff could come back to hut them. But who knows with the way they are playing, it seems like nothing will stop them. The players just seem ready. Congrats White Sox. Your fans still annoy me, but you deserve it. I'll root for ya if the Cardinals win the NL pennant.

if by "slide him one under the wall", you mean they lifted the thousand pound concrete construction barriers and slid him one, sure, I believe it. when i looked at the pictures it looked as if those barriers have gaps at two spots in the bottom, likely so a fork lift could place them down and then move. . . so thats actually what i mean by "slide him one under the wall". Im still not saying i beileve it still, but I could imagine it possible if someone was willing to try hard enough to get the brick to the other side. EDIT-- http://bc.images.trb.com/media/graphic/2005-10/19858433.jpg You can see some light shining through under those walls. Yea they are thick so you would probably need a pole or something to push it through, but if you really wanted to get that brick to the other side, it could be dones assuming the brick fits underneath that hole. -

For all you guys asking about the bricks. A friend of mine went down to Wrigley last weekend and took took a look at the contsruction, I guess you could see through at both ends. He asked the workers if he could get a brick, they said they were gonna reuse them, and if they had any extra they were gonna sell them on ebay or something. Anyways, my friend tried convinceing them, but they said there would be supervisors watching so they wouldn't be able to. Somehow though he convinced the workers and they were able to slide him one under the wall or something. He has pictures of the contruction, so I know he was actually there. And he had a picture of him grabbing something from under a gap in the walls around the construction, but he didnt have oa pic with the brick. So at this point I am still skeptical, but it sounds as though it could be a possibility to get some bricks. -
Wouldn't Julio Franco belong in that group as well? No Julio has a pretty long expiration date. He's not milk, he's more like cereal, or honey for that matter, which never spoils.

Thanks for taking time to answer questions. Who is the best pitcher you have had the privelage to coach? Being a pitching coach at the AA level are you more concerned with things like mechanics and improving their stuff or are guys normally refined enough that you are just concentrating on more mental aspects of being a pitcher? Along with that, has their been a change in how you coached guys from level to level?

What exactly is the job of a minor league GM? Ultimately doesn't the Major League GM have control over how everyone is placed and moved from AAA to AA to A? Do you have any control over any player moves? Please explain. Thanks for answering our questions! -

I think the idea was that Dusty would trust to play Durham more than he would Hairston. Sad that we have to trick Dusty into playing good players.

I have a question about strength of schedule... I would assume that the win% used in calculating the teams the have played doesn't include when they played that team. I dont know if thats clear so say for example that a team who is beating everbody, you would ignore all the losses from that great team. Otherwise teams who are just doing a good job of beating everyone would not have a "weaker schedule" because you only count the oppenents other games. Does this make sense?

I'm thinking like .700 at least. But seriously... Maybe i'm just being biased Cub fan here, but I dont see a .360-.370 out of question. A lot of you guys are assuming he'll falter and drop. I dont feel like running numbers but I'd guess he'd have to hit pretty average to drop to a .330 level. Right now it seems teams are still tryin to figure him out. By the time the do, if they do, I think he'll have enought at bats in to keep his avg high.
