  1. I still say the called 3rd strike on a huge curveball is the prettiest pitch in baseball I prefer swinging K's, but as far as called 3rd strikes, Marmol's slider is sexiest.
  2. Maybe we'll have Rich Hill back in the form of Sean Marshall...
  3. You heard wrong. I've heard the same. Also heard that he was a huge apologist for a terribly run organization.
  4. As far as I know, Penny has not looked anywhere close to right this year.
  5. Doesn't say much, but I figured I'd toss in this Harden mention in Sullivan's latest... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080623-lou-piniella-chicago-cubs,1,7301097.story I'm not sure what kind of value a career minor leaguer like Hoff can have, but whatever. Just figured I'd post it since he mentioned Harden.
  6. ...that baseball uniform site that has all the teams jerseys and the way they've evolved over the years... Amazingly, I can't find it on Google.
  7. No thanks. It would get old. It was cool for that one day. That's it.
  8. You guys are making way too much of the batting order. It's not even worth all this bandwidth. Just be happy that guys like Neifi Perez, Rey Rnez, CPatt, and Macias aren't batting at the top of it (or at all, really). That's all that really matters.
  9. He's not a .250 hitter and even if he were, this label would be completely selling one of his major offensive strengths, his ability to draw walks, short. Why do people still freaking cite batting average so damn much??
  10. Derwood is right. Baseball is the only major sport where the home team has an inherent & significant advantage built into the rules.
  11. Especially after this That game was the reason WHY they did it. I couldn't care less about this because the alternating years method that they employed before this was just about as dumb.
  12. "Everybody's wondering why I didn't pinch-hit for Corey," Baker said. "Corey, in his career, has been better against left-handers than right-handers." Corey Patterson, career: Vs. RHP .260/.302/.423 Vs. LHP .240/.273/.375
  13. - While we're watching old commercials...
  14. FWIW, this is the Cub Fan, Bud Man commercial I remember -
  15. So both Edmonds and Fuku are playing CF today, huh?

  19. thanks bruce. the cbs video at the top of the page has his full quote http://cbs2chicago.com/video/?id=45882@wbbm.dayport.com LOL I played for the angles too I like how they've jumped the gun by saying the Cubs have swept the series. Sure hope they're right, though.
  20. Lee's been away for the past two weeks. It's always funny when a typo makes a person's post mean the complete opposite of what he meant for it to say.
  21. Nah. Looks more like a real life version of Hank Scorpio. Aged 10-15 years or so
  22. UGH ONCE AGAIN, not what I was hoping for when I saw, "In play, run(s)."
  23. Eh I was hoping for better than that.. Oh, well.
