  1. Big out... just as good as a K
  2. Lou's been pretty bad at using the DH so far, he hasn't really put a lineup out there where I like all 9 hitters, and that is possible to do with this team. Using the DH to get Soto time off behind the plate is ideal. Seriously, how else would you guys have lined them up tonight?
  3. Have we been shutout yet this year? I recall a 9-0 loss to the Reds. That's right. Also one of the Nationals games.
  4. Have we been shutout yet this year?
  5. That was a tasty Cubs fan they showed a minute ago.
  6. How are we so late on these low 90's fastballs...
  7. Seriously? It looks trashy as hell. Not remotely cool. But let's not sidetrack this thread, I guess.
  8. Uh, yes he did. no he had some last year but now it looks like his entire arms are covered. he didnt have that many last year You are correct. I just went and looked at some pictures and he didn't have nearly as many. But yeah, his arms are almost completely covered now. He looks like a complete dumbass with them, if that counts for anything. Fixed.
  9. Before the AB, I was about to post that I didn't at all like the Floyd/Dempster matchup. I decided against and then it went 0-2 and I felt stupid. Well, hell.
  10. He's been doing things right all season. You should pay closer attention. He's been doing almost everything except getting on base wrong this year. ...which is far more important than anything else. Dude's hitting .310 with an OBP that's been around .400 for the last two months, and people still want to bitch. Unreal. I said I'll take it. I'm very happy with his production up till now, but he sure does like to make unnecessary outs on the bases.
  11. Was he actually out? It really didn't look like it.
  12. He's been doing things right all season. You should pay closer attention. He's been doing almost everything except getting on base wrong this year. I'll take it, but for someone who is known for doing the "little things" right, he sure does a lot of them wrong.
  13. That pretty much helps my case, IMO. Manny, flaws and all, is a more attractive option than Soriano, especially a 3-4 years younger than now Manny.
  14. Platooning Murton and Johnson makes absolutely no sense. davearm has the right idea, IMO.
  15. When you consider that the Red Sox couldn't even give Manny away on his contract, there is not a chance in hell that anyone takes that horrendous monstrosity of a contract we gave Soriano off our hands, unless we eat a significant chunk.
  16. Konerko has been pretty horrendous this year. This is a good thing for the Sox.
  17. http://www.draysbay.com/ - this one is more of a blog, but looks to be a decent fan site.
  18. Having both Burnett and Beltran on this team (possibly for the next few years, which is more or less what this team's window is) would be too much goodness for my brain to handle. The team would be an absolute juggernaut. That said, whether they can take on all that payroll is a big question, on top of the fact that it just isn't very likely to pick up two guys of that caliber at the trade deadline. But.... Soriano, Fukudome, Lee, Ramirez, Beltran, Soto, DeRosa, Theriot Zambrano, Burnett, Dempster, Lilly, Gallagher/Marquis Wow
  19. I would be extremely happy with any of the three. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that one of them come here and that whichever it is stays here so we can have a dominant 1,2 for the next few years.
  20. How old are you? Old enough to know better. And old enough not to care. I'm 31 but became a Cubs fan in '84 at age 8. So when it comes to the Cubs I allow myself to be perpetually 8. You should try it. Its blissfully cathartic. Or so my therapist says. For a hundred bucks an hour, you'd think he could come up with something better. Fair enough. I was just curious.
  21. I wouldn't classify that as the "makings of a monster season". Especially not when you look at his OBP.
  22. Probably its hardest such test since Hamels.
