You guys are making way too much of the batting order. It's not even worth all this bandwidth. Just be happy that guys like Neifi Perez, Rey Rnez, CPatt, and Macias aren't batting at the top of it (or at all, really). That's all that really matters.
He's not a .250 hitter and even if he were, this label would be completely selling one of his major offensive strengths, his ability to draw walks, short. Why do people still freaking cite batting average so damn much??
Especially after this That game was the reason WHY they did it. I couldn't care less about this because the alternating years method that they employed before this was just about as dumb.
"Everybody's wondering why I didn't pinch-hit for Corey," Baker said. "Corey, in his career, has been better against left-handers than right-handers." Corey Patterson, career: Vs. RHP .260/.302/.423 Vs. LHP .240/.273/.375
thanks bruce. the cbs video at the top of the page has his full quote http://cbs2chicago.com/video/?id=45882@wbbm.dayport.com LOL I played for the angles too I like how they've jumped the gun by saying the Cubs have swept the series. Sure hope they're right, though.
If anything Lou does way too much stupid tinkering and doesn't just let the players play enough. Yes, there are days where you're not gonna get the big hits. Those are the days you lose. There will be at least around 60 of those even if you're really good. You can't force things to happen.
