  1. I'm not at all a Theriot fan but he really isn't terrible at baseball. you're wearing your Theriot shirt right now, aren't you? You Can't Quiet The Riot

  3. I have a feeling they'll sign Capps and Byrd. I'd prefer they sign Lopez or Hudson There is zero chance that Hendry has the money to sign Byrd and Capps. And Hendry just took a big dump on Bradley with this trade, and Bradley shares the same agent as Byrd. It's probably going to be Pods and Capps. Do you really think the bolded matters? I highly doubt it.
  4. Isn't Wrigley on the National Registry of Historic Places or something? As such, you cannot tear it down. The footprint of Wrigley is too small for a modern park anyways. It could just be the same thing Wrigley is, but new. It would have to be better, even if architecturally they couldn't do a whole lot different.
  5. They've really got Mesa scrambling. I think it's mission accomplished for the Cubs, no matter how this works out. Good. The facilities in Mesa are horrible and easily the worst in Arizona. But I want the Cubs to stay in Arizona. Somebody wrote that the facilities in AZ are only 12 years old. Is that true? I was there in 2005, I believe, and it was a dump. Are they talking Fitch Park or HOHOKam? I remember the new hohokam being built in the late 90s...
  6. Of course I will, but it's going to be really hard to root for them next year knowing that a successful season will = Hendry sticking around.
  7. I don't think Silva sees the rotation at all once Lilly is back and with Wells, Gorz, and Marshall, it's possible he doesn't see it even while he's out. That is, of course, as long as we don't have to use Marshall as a loogy. ](*,)
  8. Watch us have a good season (which is still pretty possible with likely rebounds from last year and the strength of the division, etc) and be stuck with him for another several years. I'm honestly not sure what to root for next season.
  9. Ok genius, so what do you do other than this trade since you seem to know what options were out there. If you release him, you dont get the 6 million that you just saved. And again, not sure how anyone can assume he'll be in the rotation, especially coming off injury and with those numbers. Well, I am a genius, thank you. The option is to... keep him! And yes, Silva will be in the rotation. I wouldn't just assume that. EDIT - Forgot about Lilly's injury... he's almost a lock to get at least a few starts :(

  11. lol it's going to be painful when silva "wins" a rotation spot because of his salary
  12. Miles is saying the Cubs NET $9M? Aren't they technically grossing $9M and then netting the difference after the salaries are offset? In other words... he makes it sound like we're saving $9M... that's not right, is it?
  13. wtf... how much can they really be renovating if they're keeping those damn things? new towel dispensers? different scent of soap?
  14. No, he has definitely dropped a couple pitches. In fact, early in his career his changeup was his 4th most used pitch. He was a fastball/slider/splitfinger/changeup pitcher at the beginning of his career (a couple years he used the slider more, a couple he used the splitfinger more..the first year fangraphs actually has him throwing a few curveballs as well). In 07 he stopped throwing the slider as much, and then in 08 he mostly cut out the splitfinger. This year he threw the changeup much more often than he ever has before and is the first year he is listed as only throwing two pitches. This.
  15. Wasn't Sheets supposed to be ready midseason 2009? How bad was he set-back? It sucks that he doesn't at least have some post-surgery innings under his belt yet.
  16. Would surprise team = the Royals for Meche? Would Wittenmeyer or whoever originally referred to it as a surprise team refer to the Royals as such?
  17. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/12/cubs-to-remain-jumbotron-free-at-wrigley-field.html This would be pretty cool. Yea, we could always access stats on the internet, but this should be faster and easy access to quick replays would be awesome.
  18. Maybe difficult to coach in the sense that he couldn't figure out how to field any position all that well. That's about it.
  19. You would be wrong. No, I'm not. Edit: Stupid swear filter ruined the other part of what I wanted to say, so allow me to rephrase. You aren't smart enough to be dismissive of others opinions... especially without giving reasons why. You merely come off as an ass. I'm pretty sure, not positive (but I've always gotten this impression) that SZJ essentially just trolls here re: all the crap Hendry gets. In other words, he's making fun of the way that Hendry can't do anything right on NSBB.
  20. This will be one hell of a fight. I can't wait. Finally, Mayweather is facing somebody legit.
  21. anybody know what the ppv count was on the pacquiao-cotto fight? because people were saying that it would have had to be 1.5 mil for mayweather to consider it, and even then it would have been a longshot for mayweather to split the purse 50-50. we'll see if it happens, i hope it does. i'd love to see mayweather retire undefeated after smoking him. Pac vs. Cotto did 1.25 million buys on PPV. And Mayweather doesn't smoke anybody. He out points and doesn't get hit. Pacquiao smokes people. And yes, this fight must happen. PBF will have a huge black mark on his career if he doesn't fight Pac. This.
