    I had never heard of Castro before today. (Obviously, I don't follow the minor leagues much). Is he really that good? I was under the impression that we had Vitters... we had Cashner as a decent relief prospect, and that was about that. Suddenly, I hear Stone praising this guy on the Score today and I had never heard his name before. He mentioned him within the context of saying Theriot should be moved to 2B next year with a stop gap SS to hold down the fort for a year until Castro came up.

    Pretty sure we've discussed Cameron before. Great value if we can get him short term (1 or 2 years at a reasonable amount). Has been insanely consistent at the plate and is a great defensive CF.

    Why because he's gone now and because you have Teahen now? If Teahen is replacing Dye, then the sox are counting on him to be one of their power bats which is not something smart. Especially when you have an overpaid Rios in Center. Oh [expletive], we're dooooooooooooooomed. haha

    Would they have the slightest idea what questions to ask in a sabr conversation? I'd imagine numbers guy to B&B(at least Boers) means BA with men on 3rd < 2 outs, Day cERA, etc. I'd like for Ricketts' first order of business to be the firing of Wasserstrom. Not at all. Bernstein cites SABR stats all the time. He just doesn't talk a whole lot about it. EDIT - Like Banedon says, it doesn't really play to the audience.

    Nice. That Bartman question is just so ridiculously stupid, though.

    B&B just implied that Ricketts is a numbers guy and that they'll bring up the sabr subject. Seems like that would be worth listening to.

    Pretty sure, btw, that Ricketts will be on with Boers and Bernstein today as well as with Carmen, Jurko, and Harry.

    Am I really the only one not surprised by that? He didn't show all that much in the preseason and I never got the impression that they were super impressed with him in camp. Doesn't surprise me much at all that he didn't play in what was a close game (for most of the game, at least) against a great team. I would have rather he played a bit. I mean, if Pargo can see the floor, anyone can, but we have less depth at G. Can't say I'm surprised at all that JJ didn't play in that game. If we're getting killed tonight, I'm sure he'll see some burn.

    I know. This is going to be a very compelling offseason. He hasn't said much in the way of his plans for personnel, though, both in the front office and in the dugout. It's more a long term thing. I doubt you'll see anything major this offseason, outside of the obvious stuff that we know is coming.

    Raw's statement could mean a lot of things. And Cleveland hasn't looked very good (even though they are obviously a head and shoulders better team than us). Orlando is definitely a glaring omission in the statement, though.

    Boston looks very tough... at least for the beginning of the season before KG's knees fall apart. Plus it's on the road. I'll write it off as a loss and be extremely pleasantly surprised if they win. I'll be very happy if it's a competitive game.
