  1. It would be interesting to see. Literally no 3 pt shooting whatsoever.
  2. When you have that core and you have the ability to persuade two of them to play together, I think your odds are a bit better at getting them to leave... I'd even overpay Joe Johnson if we got Bosh in that scenario (or, even bigger pipedream, LBJ). Might as well go for it all.
  3. That would be the ideal possibility. Could you imagine a better scenario than having room for two max 2010 FA's while still having Rose and Noah locked into the team? Awesome.
  4. You pull the trigger on one of those trades, you don't lose much of anything long term, and you get to test out Amare before you commit to him long term.
  5. Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through. Bingo Favre could have tucked it and run, picked up a few yards and gotten them back to where they likely would have been had they not had the penalty. He didn't have to try to force a throw like he did. Bingo.
  6. I love this. Yet another season ended by a Brett Favre pick.
  7. lol you really had to ask that? even if it could be real, you didn't think that after a month you might've heard something about it?
  8. I wondered the same thing at the time. I can only imagine they had to wait for inflammation to go down or something? They can't be that incompetent, can they? That or he was trying to see if he could rehab without surgery.
  9. It's a few days old but it looks like it hasn't been posted... http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100115&content_id=7926308&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  10. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2010/1/17/1255925/uzr-error-fail-or-win-a-lesson-on#storyjump - The rest here I'm sure a lot of people here know this stuff (in fact, I know they do) already, but I still found it a pretty interesting read.
  11. I thought it was pretty obvious.
  12. They seem to have been pretty content to wait the past few years when they started playing better. They should have added Gasol a few years ago, but fell in love with their own roster. They were linked with Amar'e and Garnett at one point too. If a trade is going to obviously improve the team they're going to do it. Sometimes deals just fall through. Yeah, teams often overrate their own guys, but the only big deal we've heard rumored this year is for Bush and it's pretty hard to imagine they'd turn it down along the lines that have been discussed unless Toronto is asking for the moon. If LA is going to give them Bynum, I can't imagine Toronto getting a better return than that. Coupled with the fact that the Raptors pretty much know he's gone, I have a strong feeling that deal will go down if it is, in fact, being discussed. Man, that would make for a ridiculously scary LA team. I'd instantly put a lot of money on the Lakers winning the championship if it does. I guess I don't understand how the NBA cap works, because there should be no way that team fits under the cap. To be honest, I have no idea how it would work, especially because I think Bynum is a base year contract right now... I've just seen the reports that a deal was out there as those guys being the main pieces.
  13. In case nobody has noticed, since December 1st, in 22 games (a pretty solid sample size IMO) Rose has averaged the following 20.5 ppg on .472 shooting, 6.5 apg (and rising now that his teammates can actually make shots), and 4 rpg And he's actually been even better in Jan than he was in Dec Those January averages (7 games) are... 20.7 ppg on .512 shooting, 7.4 apg, and 4.4 rebounds

They were linked with Amar'e and Garnett at one point too. They were never going to make a trade to make the team better right now, per se. They'll make a trade to put them in a better position for 2010 (or that will acquire a 2010 player for them, if that opportunity presents itself). That's what this year is all about and no amount of success this year is going to change that.
  16. That is both surprising and encouraging. Is it really encouraging at all when it's 4-13? The fact that their division manages to contain three worse road teams doesn't make me feel any better. Just saying. Basically, that was just my semi-condescending way of letting you know they're 4-13 on the road.

  18. He still does... they're the same every decade. Real creative Ernie. He should have his kid taken away. lol
  19. He still does... they're the same every decade.
  20. Wouldn't we have to wait a while for him to work out the kinks and actually be Ben Sheets? Isn't that the best case scenario with most major surgeries? Like a year or at least most of a year? Not that I wouldn't be pleased with the move... would be a great move, IMO.
  21. I can only comment on my recent memory. But it seemed in 2008, every time Sheets tried to come back, his elbow hurt, or his shoulder hurt, or he had a problem with his finger. Seems like something was always happening and seems extremely injury prone if you ask me. Sure I'd love a healthy Sheets, but I don't think we'll get that. When was the last time he was fully healthy or atleast mostly healthy? Didn't Sheets pitch 200 innings in 2008?
  22. Yeah, but the Steeler fans I know are really whiny. I wouldn't put all that much stock in that. Fassel's another guy who I would like, but again Bears probably can't lure him here for just a season. They'd need to lay some kind of post-Lovie scenario on the table. And if you do that, you're saying Lovie's gone. That's not what I heard yesterday. Bears fans aren't? It's really not even close. Or at least, the justification for the whining isn't close. Pittsburgh just won a Super Bowl, and they won another not too long ago. Yet their fans have been whining all year about a myriad of topics. Is winning a Super Bowl the difference maker? There was plenty of whining among Chicago fans during the 2006 season (which came right after another very good season) about grossman and about the defense down the stretch... I couldn't believe how much complaining I heard during what was basically the most fun period of time I've ever experienced watching football (I was 2 in 1985). Chicago fans love to complain. You might not see it when you're not in the area, but it's more than tiresome.

  24. it's not like that rumor had no legs....it was widely reported and it came down to Kobe (supposedly) nixing it because of the players heading to LA I don't understand why people get so offended and deny all credibility once a reported rumor doesn't come to fruition. Just because a trade didn't go down doesn't mean there wasn't anything to it and it doesn't mean that what was being reported wasn't ever true. It's a rumor. It's reported as such. It's not being reported as being a completed trade or a breaking story. All he said was it's being talked about. That's why it's a rumor and not a news story. Take that for what it's worth and leave it at that. If it doesn't happen, it doesn't mean it couldn't have. Same goes for the Kobe thing. Same goes for the way people respond to Bruce Levine's stuff. Sure, maybe sometimes they overstate how sure some things are, but it's the nature of what they're doing. It could have absolutely nothing to it, it could be somewhat true, or it could really have legs. Hell, any of those three could be true and it could still either happen or not happen. I'm sure rumors that have been completely made up in the past have come true and vice versa.
