  1. There always will be injury concerns with Wood. His shoulder is jacked up. Remember when his career looked like it was over and then he miraculously recovered in a few weeks?
  2. oh my god the irony
  3. Random normal mainstream music has been playing over that crappy PA for a hell of a lot longer than the Go Cubs Go stuff. They played YMCA during a pitching change during one of the first games I went to in like 1996. They played Walkin on Sunshine (ugh) or Get Down Tonight after wins before the Go Cubs Go...
  4. My bad, didn't look in the sticky.
  5. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/12/cubs-wont-offer-arbitration-to-harden-gregg-johnson.html Looks like it's going to happen, as expected.
  6. The Cubs have been linked to Halladay and Granderson, despite probably not being in a position to trade for a high priced player at this point. And they're in the conversation for big names all the time. What are you talking about?
  7. lol if every game were like this (domination of a great team, no problem), i could probably drum up some interest, haha
  8. You should join the bandwagon. I was indifferent towards the Hawks for several years despite growing up a big big fan (early to mid 90s) and I got back on 2 seasons ago and am enjoying everything about it. I just have a hard time seeing myself being able to get emotionally invested in a team/sport I've never cared about, at this point. I tried during the playoffs last year but I just could not muster up any interest. It sucks because it looks like they're gearing up for a pretty fun run here.
  9. I hate you guys for actually caring about this stuff. Watch the Blackhawks win a Cup this year so that we get two championships from the two Chicago teams I couldn't care less about in the past 5 years, while the teams I care about all suck. ](*,)
  10. 3 of our losses have been games almost impossible to win.. @ Boston, @ LAL, @ Denver. I can't really fault them for losing those games... blown leads or not.
  11. I expected a much worse start than this.
  12. From Fangraphs... http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/john-grabow-gets-paid
  13. Unless something changed while I wasn't paying attention, I don't think he ever was.
  14. I love Stacey King.
  15. I like how he blames the Bears being a running team on their QB struggles. He obviously hasn't watched any Bears football this year. Isn't the point that they emphasize the run only and use the passing game as an afterthought? They went out and got a big time QB this offseason, but they still have an incompetent offensive coordinator who has been in the NFL and big ten college football for 2 decades and has yet to be involved in the development of a good QB. And they gave him no receivers. It's sort of like ignoring the offensive line for over half a decade, then spending one first rounder on a guy and pretending you've solved the problem. Lovie still talks about this team being a running team, even though that's a joke. They live in a bygone era where winning and losing is all about running the ball, when in fact passing has dominated this league for a very long time. Teams like New England don't even pretend to emphasize the run. Chicago still tries to act like they are a running team and are really only begrudgingly going all pass due to running incompetence. They need to embrace their passing ways. They need a real QB coach, a real offensive coordinator, a quality line and better weapons at receivers. Exactly right.
  16. Actually, the .3 seconds for the rebound/timeout is explicitly written out in the NBA rulebook. The problem with the shot is that Miller wasn't facing the basket when he caught the ball. Took too much time to turn and shoot. Interesting. Did not know that. But that seems pretty stupid. Establish possession of the ball in 3 tenths of a second (both for the rebound and for the catch and shoot)? I just don't see it, but I guess.
  17. To be fair, as far as the last shot is concerned, there's no way that Joakim rebounding that ball after the free throw, the time out, and Brad Miller getting the shot off happened within .6 seconds. Not a chance in hell.
  18. Oh wait, I can point out one time when the Bulls got the benefit of a bad call. I guess that means that they were even.
  19. Or where they completely missed Rose's obvious goaltending. Oh, wait, he's on the Bulls. It's laughable if you're suggesting the officiating in this game was even or if you're suggesting that NBA officiating isn't shady as all hell.
  20. Not to even mention the countless horrible calls against the Bulls the rest of the game. What the hell was up with the Joakim jump ball?
  21. http://i38.tinypic.com/19p8vl.jpg Clearly. Which is why it took the refs like 5 minutes (when they're only allowed to take 2 at most) of watching to "figure it out." Totally clear.
  22. How can you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the ball is in his hands in that photo (I'm pretty sure I know the angle and photo you are referring to)? It looks like it is, but there's another angle where it looks like it's out. So which one is right? The only one you can argue shows that it's out (from the front) looks that way because the ball is obscuring the end of his fingers on his right hand. Except it doesn't need to be proven to be out. It needs to be proven to be not out. The call was that the shot was good and counted. So basically, only one angle suggests the ball to be not out, and the rest are completely inconclusive. I don't see how that's enough to overturn.
  23. I have a minor scoop on the NL outfielder GG voting. Kemp got 72 votes, Victorino got 70, and Bourn got 31. 4th-6th place were Francoeur, Cameron, and Morgan respectively.
  24. All based off of Sam Smith's stupidity.
  25. Saw this on MLBTR's Twitter... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/11/cubs-rumors-harden-grabow-zambrano.html Here's hoping that last part means Cameron will be manning CF next year. Here are some of the actual excerpts... That Starlin Castro tidbit is surprising. Really hoping he just meant as a cup of coffee.
