  1. Holy horsefeathers...Sox got Moncada wow
  2. And then imagine you are a cubs fans and your brother-in-law is a pirates fan... At least your brother in law isn't a libertarian that still bashes Clinton on his facebook posts daily. You say that like goony's the one suffering
  3. Imagine going ilke 20 years without seeing even a slightly competitive team, then getting pretty damn good, getting bounced in the wild card game twice and in the nlds once, and then having a behemoth take over your division and immediately getting bad again
  4. Man I want some names on the Rangers end of these rumors
  5. Gordon Wittenmyer being pessimistic about the Cubs, and, particularly, them spending money? I'm shocked.
  6. We can give him a standing O right before we beat them by 5 runs. Also we can give him his ring with a whole nice pregame ceremony when the Cardinals come to Wrigley, which would be a nice bonus. (I'd still rather he go elsewhere...just saying).
  7. (If the Cubs still had Vogelbach)
  8. Looks like mine went up about 14%
  9. oh god now i get it the first time i read that a while ago i was like who tf is castro also who tf is crawford
  10. over/under on dusty tearing his arm to shreds?
  11. Yeah, after fees I'm guessing I was around 20% profit on the regular season games I sold on StubHub, and that doesn't factor in the early season games that I sold at or slightly below face value outside of StubHub. I'm certainly not complaining. I went to a bunch of regular season games, 2 NLCS, and a World Series game, and still came out ahead for the year, but there's no way I could come close to 96% above face for the regular season. I'm skeptical too, but it's not about how much you got...it's about how much buyers paid.
  12. That's a good thing, you know. I'm saying he can't blame sudden blindness. He's just that bad.
  13. gallo is mike olt without the sudden blindness
  14. not to say anything of harper, but pretty much nothing is going to be potentially crippling to the cubs financially anywhere in the near or long term. Every team has its limits they're pretty much non existent when you have as much surplus value as they cubs do (though they're going to have to pay up for pitching) tied up in cost controlled players, a huge windfall in TV money coming when the team is the most popular it's ever been, and the cherry on top of a sellout everyday at the league's highest ticket prices.

  16. Zobrist and Schwarber might literally be full time players, or close to it, there (well, Schwarber maybe just the heavy side of a platoon)...where's the pretending? 3/5 of the starting IF are on that list Did you watch the Cubs this year? Sure, with perfect health or close to it, things will change and there will probably be less jumping around...I hope we're lucky enough to have perfect health.
  17. I doubt Contreras sees much OF time at all. Same from Bryant moving forward, at least for a few more years. Depending on health, I could see Bryant getting OF time moreso than I can see Contreras there. I think Contreras is the #1 catcher by a good margin.
  18. That we have to pretend those guys are OFs to juice the numbers only indicates to me further that the OF is not where the Cubs are deepest. Zobrist and Schwarber might literally be full time players, or close to it, there (well, Schwarber maybe just the heavy side of a platoon)...where's the pretending?
  19. Whaaaa? The Cubs' IF has two MVP perrenial candidates, an AS SS, and one of the best players of the past decade at 2B. The OF's current best player is Jason Heyward. The OF's current best player is NOT Heyward if you consider how many OF AB's Schwarber, Zobrist, Bryant and Contreras will get I doubt Contreras sees much OF time at all.
  20. I guess the nice thing is he was so bad that there's nothing to lose by doing drastic things.
  21. this is the clip where the host throws soler in CF as an option. NBD. https://www.instagram.com/p/BNptgc-gAJ8/
  22. Add Eloy and some combo of Jeimer/Zagunis/Caratini/Pitchers and I think that gets us in the door for conversations/consideration if they were taking offers. It came up back in spring when there was some speculation about trading for Trout, but I don't know that I'd do it...granted, in this case, it's only Schwarber, Baez, and CJ off the MLB roster, but we're so stacked that I don't think consolidating that many talented players to get from, I don't know, 95 projected wins to 99 or something, is really worth it. Having the depth affords you some injury protection, and you already have plenty of really high end talent, especially positionally. Not that I'd shed a single tear over it either. I'd be super excited. I just think there's a bit of a diminishing returns thing going on there. And it would help us lock in some more elite performance in the uncertain future years beyond the very near term. To be completely honest, my view probably made more sense when we were talking about stuff like Bryant and Addy + more back in May than in this case.
  23. [tweet] [/tweet] A little interesting that it's Hinske and not Mallee.
  24. Big ol pass on trading Soler for Wade Davis I'd rather take my chances that Rondon isn't permanently broken than do that.
  25. Maybe related to some talk about him being unwilling to move off of CF. Apparently, Pirates want to move Marte to center.
